lcfcnsk Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/leicester-plot-harry-maguire-transfer-10434535 Leicester will bid for Hull centre-back Harry Maguire , amid strong interest from promoted Newcastle in their captain Wes Morgan. The Foxes are moving for the 24-year-old defender now the Tigers' relegation from the Premier League has been confirmed with their loss to Crystal Palace at the weekend. Maguire has one year left on his contract, but has turned down an extension and is set to quit the Yorkshire side. Leicester want a younger defender, with skipper Morgan now 33 years old and his regular centre-back partner Robert Huth reaching that same age in August. Morgan penned a new deal last summer until 2019 after captaining Leicester to the title and playing every minute of every game in that fairytale season. But Rafa Benitez is prepared to offer him a pay-rise and a longer deal to get him to join his promoted Geordies. It is very tempting for Morgan, who has spent most of his career outside the top-flight and sees a chance of financial security for his family as well as a new challenge. Newcastle’s interest is another major headache for last season’s champions, who are also fighting to keep the likes of Kasper Schmeichel, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez. Tottenham are interested in Maguire too, but Leicester are offering a higher salary and better first-team prospects.
Bunyip Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 A chance of financial security ? If he's not made enough money by now then I'm a forest fan.
Stevosevic Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 I dont know too much about him tbh - do people think we could do better? I assume we'll only be signing 1 CB in the summer with Benny, Huth and Morgan still capable for next season.
Vindaloo FOX Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 seems like a mature young lad, if the price is right get the lad in .
frany104 Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 I genuinely believe Maguire would be the best cb signing out of him, Keane and Gibson. Better value for money and I think he has a better all round game.
kingfox Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 My kind of defender, reads the game pretty well and confident on the ball. We won't get Keane and Gibson's rumoured price tag is ridiculous. Can see Maguire and Mbodji being our top two targets, I'd also like us to look at Zouma or Ake from Chelsea.
Wymsey Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 Considering he's British, still quite young and highly-rated, Hull will probably demand an excessive, over-inflated, fee for him. Not sure he's the type of centre-back (Huth etc are tall and very strong in both the air and on the floor) that the team needs going forward though.
AjcW Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 Maguire suits us best... he's not a Ball Player as such, but can be if he has to be. Whereas I think Keane focusses too much on that and that's not our style.. also £££££ And I really don't think Gibson is good enough, he's just young and English so everyone is talking about him.

Another lad we were interested in about 3/4 years ago. We'd have some team if we'd followed up our interest in the likes of him.
Gazza M Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 I think he fits the bill. A younger and hopefully better version of Huth/Morgan now. I seems our sort of defender.
Legend_in_blue Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 Didn't look great against Palace at the weekend. Looked weak up against Benteke.
Stevosevic Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 Is there a reason he only played 22 out of 46 games in their promotion year? An injury?

foxy boxing Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 Certainly hits the age range we need, and will only improve and can learn from the experienced players we have. A good prospect
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 Gerrimin! We'll regret it if not, just like when we didn't spend the money on Michael Keane last summer.
Mease Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 Quality no nonsense player, would fit right in scores a goal also. Don't piss about let's get our business done.

Don't u remember him at the KP? Great player
one F in Fox Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 Can't say I really rate him. Would much rather go for Alfie Mawson!
Clever Fox Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 I mentioned him 3 year ago when we could have got him for 2 million. Now I suppose he'll cost 15 + to get him. Still he's a good player, Not as strong as Wes but he'll only get better. He's comfortable on the Ball and likes to get forward and scores a few Goals. Get it done quickly.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 16 May 2017 Posted 16 May 2017 He's a real under the radar upcoming talent IMO Most of the attention is on Keane and Stones in terms of young english centre backs... But Maguire is a real solid defender on his day. I rate him higher than both of those names.
