Birmingham are quite a hateable club, their fans are up there with the worst for pure vitriol and aggression towards other supporters and they don't have any humour to make up for it. To be fair there's an element of that amongst Wolves fans in my experience but Birmingham really take it to a new level. Horrible lot.

Would be quite happy to see them take the plummet this year, its about time!

I was unaware of his interest in football.

The key tenets of moneyball are really that knowledge of the sport is sort of secondary to statistical analysis, so they arguably think they can implement the same logic in a new medium.

It'll be interesting.

A little bit of moneyball combined with some Dave Brailsford 1%ism arguably won us the premier league.

Baseball is statistics though and it's a very individually based game. So throwing a bunch of oddball players together is fine. Football obviously you need the right pieces that work well together.

I think the moneyball concept could work to some extent in football and perhaps Leicester City were an example of that.

The "brain" behind Beane's Moneyball organization, Paul Depodesta, was hired by the Cleveland Browns to apply his expertise to American football.  The Browns have posted one win and 29 losses since his appointment as Chief Strategy Officer.

Did not know that. Fair play, that's pretty amusing.

It's worth mitigating that the Browns were hardly Superbowl contenders in the preceding seasons... they haven't posted a winning season since 2007 and were 3-13, 7-9 and 4-12 in the three seasons before he joined (yes, to be fair, they've got worse.)

But it's also a point that the Browns are trading and dealing to give themselves picks in upcoming NFL drafts to get the players and suit the system and structure they have in place. This season is a write-off for them and they're playing the long game to get the personnel in order to compete.

Long-term goal, clearly, but not quite as black and white as 1-29...

Daniel Farke must be starting to come under some pressure at Norwich. They're not going to go down, but he doesn't seem to give them any consistency and their home record is terrible (Only Burton and Sunderland have won less).

12 goals in 12 home games, and 10 goals in 11 away games. So the football can't have even been too good either.

I remember Norwich fans crowing at the start of the season that they had the best foreign manager in the league too!

3-0 flattered us, millwall missed a load of chances and should have ahead in the first 10 minutes, still ill take it :)

Only 1 auto spot left so its gonna be tough but hope we can do it at last

Think that's a blunder from Boro. Monks a good manager and would have finished playoffs. His teams play good football, but think he needs time to mould them a little. Wouldn't mind him at Leicester to be honest.

Not a given and I think that's doing a disservice to a lot of clubs in that league, mate. There are quite easily six sides better than Middlesbrough, probably more.
