Not really embarrassing, why go to Africa when there is a good possibility you will have to fly back to Europe to finalise any deals. Makes perfect sense to any normal person.

As long as he keeps up his good form and doesn't sulk it's a win-win

There quite clearly wasn't a good possibility because bar Roma absolutely no one has shown a significant interest throughout the entirety of the summer.

I love Riyad but he's had a very strange day.

The next 4 months gonna be toxic! The smallest mistake and he will be hung to dry.

As for me, i'm happy that the team didn't lose him, this late in the window and no replacements, that's the best thing that could happen!

Stop moaning lads and just enjoy watching him for another 4 months. I know I'm going to.

You reckon we'll sell him in the January window mid season when we could be chasing a European place? When we haven't sold him in this summer window or last summer post title win?

Absolutely no chance. He'll have to wait until next summer to leave now, if he's lucky enough to have suitors who will bid the appropriate money.

I guess there's still Barca but surely the club won't sell him now. I'm delighted I'm still going to get to see him play.

Well that's not what the bookies thought. He was 16/1 to stay

I suspect it's not just the owners but the players as well that will be asking questions

Yeah I can see Vardy in particular losing respect for Riyad

And so they shouldn't be. He's acting like an absolute idiot. He is under contract here.

If he is acting on the advice of his agent he needs to get rid

Yeah, the bookies reacted after he indulged on his self-determined European excursion

If thats the case then Shakespeare must feel betrayed. Made it clear to Mahrez what the club wanted, he seemingly understood and accepted it so Shakespeare put him back in the team trusting him to be profesional. Then according to this has tried to force a move. Wouldn't be suprised if Gray gets a first team chance and Mahrez is dropped to the bench. Hell if (big if as we can't be sure on the details) true and he has been trying to force a move as soon as he gets away from the club, I would drop him and put Musa on the bench instead. Teach him that we won't be pushed around by any player.

Its a shame if true as I have respected how he has handled being told he won't leave until the valuation is met, until this. Bit like Drinkwater putting in a transfer request at the last second, shows a lack of respect to the club and their team mates.

Edit: Just to make this clear the above is of the view point of him trying to force a move through and the club being upset by it. If it turns out he just went to Europe in case a transfer went through and just waited on it not putting himself about at all to make it quicker to have a medical ect, then not much is wrong there.

Ive just realized that we are not losing Riyad. Seriously followed football for nearly 30 years but this little bit of knowledge rates very highly in the good times. Was pretty down this morning but very happy now.

He won't, they don't seem like best mates for me!

There are players who probably hated each other but managed to preform.

Would more more worried about drinky if I was you, they seem like mates.

Lots of mixed emotions tonight with Riyad.

Cant help but feeling he's been badly advised by a desperate agent.

Just learnt that he didn't tell the club that he was back in Europe for the deadline? Well, well, Riyad...
