Wasn't Slimani's injury a groin thing? Seems to be a lot of groin issues around ATM. Wtf are the players doing? Whatever it is they need to stop.

Nah... he got a massive gash in the back of his leg and needed stitches.

I think we should consider to put mahrez as no.10, I'm unsure with james creativity and performance for competitive league.

by that we can accomodate gray as well.

We've tried that and he's been a passenger in those games.

Slim's got a massive gash and Iborra's got a groin strain. #teambonding

1st game just 48 hours, or so away.  Thus far we've made 2 quality signings. DD and VI are going to miss the opener. If we have any ambition to finish top six, a couple more quality players need bringing in!

Okazaki will start instead of Ihenacho, but he will come on after 60 minutes. Andy King will come on at some point for James. TBH against Arsenal we probably need Okazaki's work rate anyway for the first 60.

Overall not a bad team, but with Arsenal playing 3-4-3 this season we might get overrun. I feel we need James to step up. I hope he can because I'd be delighted if comes back after his time out of the game with injury.

Yeah I could definitely see that happening, however PLEASE not Andy King!

Hasn't Craig already said Kelechi won't start? Expect Okazaki and the usual hoof ball on Friday!

If we play hoofball with Okazaki why would we play differently with Iheanacho?

King won't start but I expect him to come on.

I expect Schmeichel, Simpson, Morgan, Maguire, Fuchs, Mahrez, James, Ndidi, Albrighton, Okazaki, Vardy.

King, Gray and Iheanacho to come on.

In a way I'm chuffed to bits because Matty is only about 5m on the old Fantasy Footie.

4.5 on the prem one. Straight in as a cheap signing. Kelechi at 7 could be a steal as well.

Agree with this. I think he's had one good game there ever (and that was against Southampton, in a totally different system to what we'll play).

We've got no real number ten in the squad.

Craig Shakespeare will be able to call on the services of striker Kelechi Iheanacho on Friday, but is without midfield duo Danny Drinkwater and Vicente Iborra.

- Kelechi Iheanacho is fit to face Arsenal, says manager Craig Shakespeare
- Danny Drinkwater and Vicente Iborra will both miss out
- Robert Huth, Papy Mendy and Islam Slimani have all returned to training
- The Foxes face Arsene Wenger’s men at Emirates Stadium on Friday (7.45pm kick-off)

Iheanacho made an immediate impact during his first appearance for the Foxes after he came off the bench to set up Jamie Vardy for his second goal against Borussia Mönchengladbach last week.

The Nigeria international was then withdrawn as a precaution after picking up a toe injury, but has now fully recovered, according to the City boss.

“Danny Drinkwater as got a thigh injury and should hopefully be another week,” Shakespeare told the media on Wednesday afternoon.

“On a positive note, Kelechi trained fully after his little knock against Borussia Mönchengladbach. He’s over his toe injury and he’s fully fit.

Shakespeare Gives Injury Update

Craig Shakespeare gave an update on the Foxes injury problems ahead of their Premier League fixture against the Gunners.

“Whether he can last 90 minutes, we’ll have to have a discussion about that, but he’s been training the last few days and looks sharp. That’s pleasing for us.

“Robert Huth is back in training which is a real bonus because we thought he would be out for more time. He’s joined in and he will get some game time with the Under-23s on Monday. He’s well ahead of schedule and he’s raring to go.

“Papy Mendy is back in training, so we get one or two back and we lose one or two but that’s the way it is at the moment in terms of injuries.”

Islam Slimani was another man to pick up an injury during pre-season, this time against Wolverhampton Wanderers, but has since began training again.

Shakespeare continued: “He’s returned to training. It was in an awkward place behind the knee. I think he had seven stitches in total. It was a nasty injury really.

“I’m not blaming the tackle at the time because I just think it was an unfortunate situation. He’s slowly getting back and he’s joined in training the last few days.

“We just need to get him sharp. He’s fully recovered from it but it was a nasty injury that just stops the mobility of the leg and the knee fully bending. He’ll be involved.”

Robert Huth is back in training which is a real bonus because we thought he would be out for more time.

Meanwhile, Iborra will miss out after straining his groin in training. Shakespeare expects the Spaniard to be out for up to two weeks.

He added: “Iborra has picked up a groin strain the other day in training so he will miss Friday’s game. I’m just waiting on the scan results. I expect that type of injury to be no longer than seven to 14 days.

“I saw Vicente’s face this morning as we had a chat. He’s obviously gutted but I think he’s experienced to know that he’ll get over it quickly. I’m without a very experienced midfield player but we’ve got enough strength in depth to deal with it.”

Only thing Andy King is good for now is the " The many faces of Andy King " thread!

Hope he doesn't bloody start Friday

I like Kingy btw.

Maybe pearsons daughter is back on the scene.

Ndidi is first choice in defensive midfield. The other should ideally suppl the strikers. Looking at preseason James just edges Iborra.

If we want to strengthen midfield defensively we're screwed, however. I'd suggest Mendy but then I have dim and unpleasant memories of Mendy, his ankle and his last Arsenal game.

How we are suffering so many injuries before the season has even bloody started is beyond me. Are players made of paper these days?

James and Ndidi would have been my choice anyway.

Would have liked to start with Nacho for 60 min then take him off for Iborra to (hopefully) protect a lead.

Hope Nacho gets at least 45 mins, but he'll probably only come on after Shinji's usual 60.

Hopefully by the time King comes on for James we are protecting a lead & have two banks of four behind the ball.

King is quite good in them situations to be fair & is always in the right place.

Also if we're leading I'd bring on Chilwell at LW & Iheanacho for Okazaki.

I'd exprect the same but hope the 2 centre midfielders look good avoid injury and King only appears to kill time when we're 2-1 up with a few minutes to go !!!

Non-impact injuries we're suffering could be down to a lack of research on transfer targets, or down to training methods

We seemed to go a very long time during Pearson's 2nd reign right through to his team playing under Ranieri, with minimal injuries & hardly anyone injured & certainly not repeatedly

The fact we've got Slimani & Iborra potentially missing out for the same reason is probably coincidence, but if this crops up again or with others, then we may need to make changes

Standard 2 or 3-1 beating for me. Arsenal usually start well and then fade after Christmas. Can't see us coming away with anything but a lesson.

I prefer 5 banks of 2, if not 10 banks of 1.
