Wdywd Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 The thing is with Musa that occasionally he does stuff that makes you understand why we signed him. The absolutely rapid bursts behind the defence, the odd run where he goes flying past people. Just presumably the scouts fell asleep for the other 88 minutes of all his games. I think I like him for the sheer entertainment Easy win but good to see. I'm not entirely convinced by Chilwell as a defender yet. He looks good going forward but just seems to get beat very easily sometimes. We haven't actually given Ulloa a new contract have we?
Koke Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Ì don't think we can draw too many conclusions from last night. We were up against a newly promoted team from League One who made 8 changes. We had a starting 11 worth over £60m. It was a routine win, nothing else really.

I think you can say the same about Fuchs, good going forward but gets beat easily sometimes. I'm ready to move onto Chilwell and let him grow with experience. Fox92 says we've given ulloa a new contract, I haven't seen that confirmed and really hope we haven't. It's time to sell Ulloa at any price. we've had our money's worth and he's just holding back younger and better strikers from getting a place on the bench.

foxy boxing Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 A good second half performance and great to see Gray and Slimani getting the goals. both will be pushing hard to get more game time and start more games. while Ulloa had a poor game and maybe the club should think about letting him go!. Musa got a goal at the end but is still so frustrating in matches and he needs to start learning fast or the club should loan him out!. as ever Harry Maguire continues his good form and dominated the defence for us!

Why though? The first goal came on the back of kingy driving forward. We need a bit of creativity and intelligence in the CM spot. Why do the midfield need babysitting by an attacker? By all means drop back to get into the game if you need, but making it an official role is just silly because we only have 1 fast striker, the rest can't get into the box by the time we break as they've got to run from midfield. If we are going to play 4-4-2 get a dominant CM in who we can rely on to shield the back 4. If Mahrez and Gray really put a shift in to defend, there's no reason why someone like Ndidi or drinkwater can't burst forward when we in possession and allow Slimani AND vardy to sit on the last man where they can really hurt them. We put so much pressure on 1 striker when the other is dropping deep. We waited years to find a 20+ goalscorer, we now have 2 and we only utilise 1 at a time.
les-tah Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Musa is absolutely shot of confidence.. he doesn't make mistakes cause hes crap. Glad he scored. You can tell the way the boys ran up and dived on him when he scored that everyone in the team new he was struggling with it else they wouldn't of made a big deal.
les-tah Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 And Slimanis Movement is class he clearly is a top draw striker. He looks best in a number 9 position.

Some of the football we produced second half would've caused a few PL teams serious problems too, which was the pleasing part, especially as these were our 'reserves'. You cannot ask for much more than that.

Yeah I really liked this and was really happy for him. Hope he can kick on or smashes it out on loan. I just felt bad for him yesterday, he looked really frustrated that he was messing up.

I'm not deliberately trying to be a doom merchant but I'll reserve my judgement for now. Can only beat what's put in front us granted and we made them look like the pub team that they are.
WestLothianFox Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 After Slims performance last night, it would't surprise me if clubs looking for a striker made an offer for him. Think Benny will be gone as he didnt even make the bench last night. hopefully we replace him with a good first choice CB

z-layrex Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Blades fans' consensus seems to be Gray best player on the pitch, Musa by far the worst.

Shakey stated on sat, that Hamer was ahead on Jakupovic on merit currently, so no idea how he must be doing in training, but it doesn't sound positive.
Nick Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 1 hour ago, FIF said: I also think we're being dismissive of Sheffield. They are a champioonship team who had won their last 9 games at home - that's no easy feat for anyone. They were promoted easily as champs and are holding their own in the championship. They also had made 8 odd changes too to their side that played at the weekend.

It's not like we play high tempo stuff around the opposition box with plenty of runs and width on a regular basis.
Gerard Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 I went last night and was pleased for Musa to get his goal but he'll never be a success here. He does have some qualities with his pace and movement but he's an awful footballer at this level. There were things I watched him do last night that he wasn't confident of pulling off that most PL players would be able to do 99% of the time. His touch is poor and his distribution is shocking. There was a point when he should of crossed but he didn't he passed it back to Chilwell because his confidence is shot and he didn't want to take the responsibility. For every time he does something like the Barcelona goal we're going to have to put up with ten fold of inadequacy. I hope we can get rid this window as he's just not up to it.
Legend_in_blue Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Musa's first attempt at a cross ended up going right instead of left if memory serves me right. Fair play to the bloke though, he stuck at it, improved in the second half and scored his goal. He's never worth £16 million though or whatever we paid for him. Shocking value but entertaining nevertheless.
Manwell Pablo Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Fck the haters. Im just looking forward to the next round and episode 2 of the Ahmed musa show. He best not be sold for that reason alone.
