Farrington fox Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 Made a fantastic start for us, pleased about the call up, on what I've seen so far its deserved. One thing though, watched Hull a few times last season and he wasn't anywhere near as influential for them. What's happened?

One of my best mates is a STH at Hull. Always told me Maguire should be playing, even when Dawson and Davies were at the back. I used to laugh it off.
Tielemans63 Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 Think (hope!) people are fretting a bit too much about Shakey's statement re Harry's injury. Surely 'precaution' implies it's not too serious and they just don't want to make it worse? If his knock on Tuesday had been serious I'm sure he'd have been subbed. The club are hopefully just erring on the side of caution and letting a bit soreness heal rather than aggravating it in training.
the fox Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 Nice news to hear! Hard work pays off. Hopefully he can push for a start.
Tielemans63 Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 On another note, I'm really pleased to see Harry in the squad but honestly, what the chuff does Albrighton have to do just to get a chance? He is massively worthy of an opportunity at least.
trabuch Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 Maguire is a better player than Stones imo, and thoroughly deserves this. Very good buy for us.

Which is even more worrying because of how much faith they placed in 2 aging centre halves without even adding the slightest bit of competition. I'm fairly sure if Morgan didn't have back problems last season we might not have pursued Maguire as early as we did and may have missed out. I personally think the lad is class and should be in the team week in week out but subtle signs are there that Morgan and Huth would still be the preferred partnership.. I hope i'm so wrong on this however.

But you still know it'll all fook up somehow. The England team is lacking a good midfield and a world class midfielder.

ajthefox Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 I don't think anyone who isn't a Leicester fan has a clue about how much Albrighton contributes. I don't think he's anywhere close to getting a call up.
sk3since03 Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 A Maguire and Keane pairing is a must for England Would of been great if we could of snapped Keane up on a permanant a few seasons back
lennybhoy Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 Maguire has started well for us but is no where near what England expects of its centre halves...on the other hand if he was Irish,he would fit perfectly into our team.A typical Martin o Neil player...
ajthefox Posted 25 August 2017 Posted 25 August 2017 Southgate says he is still considering picking Rooney in spite of him retiring, and then goes on to criticise players for hiding behind Rooney. Fvcking tool. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/aug/24/gareth-southgate-wayne-rooney-england-world-cup

There need to be balance, you can't pick the best player in every position and just start playing, this isn't FIFA! You can't have a team full of riyad's nor a full team full of Marc's. As long as england doesn't find balance, there won't be any success! IMO, he won't get any call up anytime soon, he isn't flamboyant enough, he isn't the type of player that makes you jump from your seat nor is he playing for a big club, he is just a simple man playing simple football.
MC Prussian Posted 25 August 2017 Posted 25 August 2017 His market value's already doubled with this call-up. Hope he shines in an England shirt and does club and country proud.

manders86 Posted 25 August 2017 Posted 25 August 2017 My biggest criticism around Maguire so far is his song ?. I've been trying to get something simple that fits with Kings of Leon- sex on fire (probably the wrong thread but it is Harry Maguire related!) 'hes a great player we signed him from Hull hes a man mountain at just 6 foot 2 could be our captain he is that good.... whooooaaa it's Harry maguire whoooaaaa it's Harry maguire Even if you find this doggo.. someone somewhere please come up with something better than the white stripes!!
foxy boxing Posted 25 August 2017 Posted 25 August 2017 It's fantastic that he is showing early promise for us and getting an England call up is brilliant for him, hopefully he can establish himself with us and England for years to come!
