Tuna Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 We need some good old fashioned hard arsed northerners in the squad to toughen up those southern whingers from Spurs and Arsenal.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 We could end up dominating the squad by the time the WC kicks off. DD, James and Albrighton can't be far off, Gray could potentially make it and Vards n Maguire shoe-ins. Guess if Danny stays only 1 out of him and James could realistically get the call.

Gibson - Maguire, a pair of northern bastards at the heart of our defence. Make it happen LCFC.
ealingfox Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 Congrats to him. Is a bit depressing that one decent write-up on MOTD gets you a call-up these days but he's better than John Stones so no reason he shouldn't be in there.
Ted Maul Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 Go on 'Arry lad! It really is great getting players called up for England, we waited so long.

If Albrighton can't get a chance now against Malta, he's never getting a cap under Southgate. Drinkwater never gets a look, James has no hope, Gray not while he can't get in our 11.
glenny_fox Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 I know it has probably been said a thousand times before but I still can't believe how far we have come in a few short years. To, potentially, have 3 full England internationals in our first 11 is amazing. I might even start watching England again!
Fox92 Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 Typical. Gets ignored but goes to a big club and gets picked
Innovindil Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 How is livermore still getting picked for England

I know it's highly unlikely we get more than 2/3 in but it's a long season, you never know what might happen
brucey Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 Maguire suffered a heavy tackle in the first few minutes of the victory over Sheffield United. Shakespeare said he missed a bit of training as a precaution after suffering an “adverse reaction” the following day. Was an unnecessary risk playing him
Koke Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 Just now, Nugent said: Sturridge and Welbeck.... Heard a stat the other day. Welbeck scored his first ever Premier League goal when Vardy was playing for Stocksbridge. Vardy have now scored more Premier League goals than Welbeck. Injuries notwithstanding, Welbeck has played for 2 of the biggest clubs on England.

Lovejoy Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 Yes lad! Carry on at this rate though and we'll lose him for £60m next summer .
desertfox2 Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 Much deserved. Not sure what more Albrighton can do to get a call up.
StriderHiryu Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 He's a great player and very much deserves the opportunity. Bit of a slap in the face for Albrighton though who is the most underrated player in the league and deserves a chance.

Same with Sturridge but slightly different Sturridge joined Liverpool the same season Vardy joined us in the championship Vardy has scored 6 more premier league goals in that time
mod hero Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 We deserved call up, buzzing for him. However.... that has got to be one of the worst England squads of all time. Talent and leadership is so sparse it's unreal. such a shame.

Was thinking the same thing myself, who the hell would have thought it after getting relegated at Stoke all those years ago
Super_horns Posted 24 August 2017 Posted 24 August 2017 Chalobah picked as well - is that because he left Chelsea and is getting some 1st team football albeit 2 games) Looking to the future I guess. I remember Scott Loach got called up for England once! Hopefully Chalobah's career doesn't go the same way...
