Harry Maguire called up to England Squad

We need some good old fashioned hard arsed northerners in the squad to toughen up those southern whingers from Spurs and Arsenal.

We could end up dominating the squad by the time the WC kicks off. DD, James and Albrighton can't be far off, Gray could potentially make it and Vards n Maguire shoe-ins. Guess if Danny stays only 1 out of him and James could realistically get the call.

Gibson - Maguire, a pair of northern bastards at the heart of our defence. Make it happen LCFC.

Congrats to him. Is a bit depressing that one decent write-up on MOTD gets you a call-up these days but he's better than John Stones so no reason he shouldn't be in there.

If Albrighton can't get a chance now against Malta, he's never getting a cap under Southgate. Drinkwater never gets a look, James has no hope, Gray not while he can't get in our 11.

I know it has probably been said a thousand times before but I still can't believe how far we have come in a few short years.

To, potentially, have 3 full England internationals in our first 11 is amazing. I might even start watching England again!

Heyy don't rain on my parade! I know it's highly unlikely we get more than 2/3 in but it's a long season, you never know what might happen

Maguire suffered a heavy tackle in the first few minutes of the victory over Sheffield United.

Shakespeare said he missed a bit of training as a precaution after suffering an “adverse reaction” the following day.

Was an unnecessary risk playing him :(

Just now, Nugent said:

Sturridge and Welbeck....

Heard a stat the other day. Welbeck scored his first ever Premier League goal when Vardy was playing for Stocksbridge. Vardy have now scored more Premier League goals than Welbeck.

Injuries notwithstanding, Welbeck has played for 2 of the biggest clubs on England.

Not really we wanted to win the game and we were running out of CB's.

Much deserved. Not sure what more Albrighton can do to get a call up.

move to a big 6 club and sit on the bench all season?

Same with Sturridge but slightly different

Sturridge joined Liverpool the same season Vardy joined us in the championship

Vardy has scored 6 more premier league goals in that time

We deserved call up, buzzing for him.

However.... that has got to be one of the worst England squads of all time.

Talent and leadership is so sparse it's unreal.

such a shame.

Was thinking the same thing myself, who the hell would have thought it after getting relegated at Stoke all those years ago

Chalobah picked as well - is that because he left Chelsea and is getting some 1st team football albeit 2 games)

Looking to the future I guess.

I remember Scott Loach got called up for England once!

Hopefully Chalobah's career doesn't go the same way...
