If the Club has messed up then punish the club, not the player. FIFA should fine the Club for missing the deadline.

FIFA is effectively imposing a 19 game ban on Silva. Totally unfair. Barely legal I would imagine.

I hope Silva sues the ass off FIFA if they do not change their decision.

Not really FIFA's fault if we were inept though. Which us still possible. We don't really know what happened yet.

just a thought, if Adrien is now a Lcfc player now, can't we cancel his contract by mutal consent, leaving him as a free agent, then signed him on as a free agent, as then I think he could play straight away.

I should imagine the 'international clearance' would still be an issue.

This whole registration process is a load of shit anyway. Thought they brought it in to help "home grown talent"??

But then again, we had a whole summer and left it till the last minutes. What do you expect really.

I'm sure that might be one of the options the club are looking at.

Just echoing what everyone else is saying really but it's ridiculous to leave a transfer that late.

Hardly matters if you miss it by 14 seconds or 14 days does it? The deadline is the deadline, you've KNOWN it was the deadline for months. There's no excuse for missing it

Exactly! Like all things in life you may see tantrums in public places when people miss deadlines . Don't pay DVLA tax before midnight you can't pay at one minute past. If you miss a flight boarding by a minute they ain't going to let you on. If you are getting a home delivery of shopping at the Cnut comes a minute late but the company promises a tenner voucher if that happens you wouldn't appeal for "common sense" you would appeal for your voucher! Deadline means deadline, we missed it, we fcuked up , terrible

The punishment should fit the crime.

When Suarez racially abused Evra he got an 8 game ban...

But a tired LCFC official misses FIFAs arbitrary deadline by 14 seconds then a completely innocent player misses half a season. No I'm not having that.

@Babylon What was the transfer involving Nice and Sporting in which an appeal would have been successful? Were the circumstances similar to this?

I can't say for sure it would have been successful as Nice cancelled their appeal (The player quit the club as they weren't paying him), but when it went to arbitration to sort out the mess between Nice and Sporting, the arbitration board stated they they should have continued with their appeal as they felt they had a case to be successful.

Essentially, their was confusion in the contracts (one thought an amount was pretax, the other after tax), so the contract had to be amended and was uploaded 4 minutes late (process of uploading documents was started prior to the deadline). I'm not sure if they have already uploaded the document once and then re-uploaded if though.

There seems to be wiggle room, but it really depends on the reasoning.

Adrien Silva has scored one goal in 20 games for Portugal

Fifa has rejected Leicester City's application to register midfielder Adrien Silva after the club missed the deadline by 14 seconds.

The Foxes signed the midfielder from Sporting Lisbon for £22m but finalised parts of the deal near the close of the summer transfer window on 31 August.

Silva's registration was not completed in time with football's governing body meaning he is ineligible until January.

Leicester are in the process of trying to appeal against the decision.

A spokesman said: "We are working with Adrien and Sporting Clube de Portugal to overcome some issues relating to the player's registration and exploring all options to find a resolution."

The club own Silva but points of the deal were not completed adequately meaning they are required to pay his wages until they can attempt to register him again in January.

Sporting President Bruno de Carvalho added: "The transfer of Adrien is already completed. Hopefully Leicester find a solution for him."

France-born Silva, 28, is a product of Sporting's academy and has had loan spells at Maccabi Haifa and Academica.

He has earned 20 international caps and played during Portugal's run to winning Euro 2016.

Leicester also sold midfielder Danny Drinkwater to Chelsea for £35m in the final moments of the transfer window.

I wouldn't have thought so, lots of 'Free Agents' move out of the Transfer Window and many of them will need to get International Registration clearance from FIFA.

This isn't just a mistake. It could be catastrophic to our season and cost us league positions. We may need to hange formation now also. Can't we recall Mendy?

As well as changing formation, a change in DoF may also be required.

All looks pretty final now.... What a shambles, on Leicester hey!  now we have gotta contend with a championship quality midfield until January

It's harsh, no doubt about it.

Also, points for putting foxes talk on porn search results for "barely legal" and "ass" .

There seems to be similarities, then. Both registrations began before the deadline, but were completed after. If that's the reason why arbitration said they had a case, it's quite possible things will sort themselves.
