Didn't work with De Gea to Madrid.

Sure but De Gea wasn't actually signed by them in the in end and remained where he was... Hoping an appeal might look upon these circumstances differently... *goes off to find straws to clutch...

It's grossly unfair to leave Silva in limbo which effectively bans him playing club football for four months.

Common sense should prevail and FIFA should be looking after the interests of the player.

You know we all like to play last post before the lock, well you don't think............ Nah they wouldn't would they ??

Even if an appeal is successful, be lucky if it's all sorted by October.

It's incredible to have missed out on the deadline by a huge time amount of 14 seconds.

An appeal is the right way of going about this, considering.

It is FIFA though... 14 seconds and they are thinking whether they should allow a player to play for the next four months or not..

And in a World Cup year where he potentially starts for the reigning European champions - the real loser here is him not us.

Surely the appeal will have some weight if we can prove it was sent prior to the deadline?

Either way, what a shambles. Just when you thought we had finally got our act together and had a really productive window....

To be fair to FIFA, if you miss the bus by 14 seconds you have missed the bus...

Given all the recent scrutiny they've been under you can understand them wanting to be compliant to the t.

It's all done by fax machine isn't it

God I hope not.  Do people still use fax and teletext in the UK?

I know a few people joked about it but wouldn't it be feasible to release him and sign him as a free agent? Surely if he agreed to terminate his contract with no fees before resigning, it wouldn't be an issue....

Would love to be a fly in the wall at the meeting of BT broadband's insurance firm when they receive Vichai's claim documentation for Silva's wages, expenses and accommodation till January.

That'll be the basis of the appeal - computer error rather than human error...

wouldn't it be better to say human error - we're from leicester city?

First its 11 seconds then 14. Soon enough we will hear stories about how the paper used in the fax machine was to thick hence it took longer to be rolled through the rollers and scanner thereby taking longer to send and being 19.23445 seconds late on final completion time.

Nobody has a 100% clue about facts so pointless sitting here moaning about it.

Lets wait for official confirmation.

That's just incredibly pedantic though. It's not like the bus has already gone. If you're 14 seconds late and the bus is still there you can still get on it.

This is a problem that can be sorted out with a smidgen of common sense, it's not like we've tried to get an advantage and a man's career is being suspended all because of FIFA being a jobsworth.

No - surely that would be acknowledging that it's our fault - I imagine that's we are trying to avoid!
