filbertway Posted 11 October 2017 Posted 11 October 2017 Imagine we'll line up Schmeichel Simpson Morgan Maguire Fuchs Mahrez Iborra King Albrighton Okazaki Vardy

Edit....King/Amartey Edit.....King/Iborra Good God... i got something to cheer you up, col it's 5 days rather than 3 until the next game. that must count for something, aye?

Hanan96 Posted 11 October 2017 Posted 11 October 2017 Got a good chance to win if we keep a fighting spirit like againts those big teams, just need to improve our defense and finishing. I really hope we would tried to play 3-4-1-2 since we surely won't play wingless formation with 4 defender. Altought it seems our squad werent build for that formation, but this is the best way to accomodate slimani while we need another big man againts sides like west brom in defence, I will hope shakey played dragovic, maguirre, and amartey. While I'm not too sure with amartey's ability, at least he played there often in national teams and copenhagen, and got enough speed to defend in wide position, since 3 back were prone to overload in wing areas which center back need tohelp. unfortunately, it seems shakey would never left morgan, so I think if he plays 3 in the back, fuchs and morgan will be played instead of drago and amartey in midfield, not much option. only 2 wingback we got. so albrighton and chilwell for both sides. in central areas, we got lack of central midfield. Iborra and Ndidi is a must, another 1 seems have to be mahrez. he can't play anywhere else, and if he dropped, everybody will shake our coach for sure for striker duo, vardy would never get dropped, slimani sholuld play to add more tall players. I'm sure we can win this match.
AjcW Posted 11 October 2017 Posted 11 October 2017 Will be an interesting press conference tomorrow! Huth hasn't featured in the reserve games during the break so perhaps he might be back in contention? If King and N'didi are out then it'll get to the stage where we have to put U23's on the bench. I just wish he/we were the sort to take a risk! We're at home against West Brom on Sky, just imagine the motivation that would give George Thomas or Hamza to just take one start and run with it. (I know it's not the best solution it would just be nice to see us have some balls for change!) Interestingly there's not a Dev Squad game until the 23rd, so it's a great chance to at least get a few of them around the squad!

That's why we set up not lose lose rather than set up to win. I expect nothing will change from previous games and we'll spend 90 mins watching our midfield constantly pass sideways. I'd love us to start with Gray and Mahrez but Shakespeare wouldn't dare.

goose2010 Posted 11 October 2017 Posted 11 October 2017 just feels like this international break has gone on for ever! Even if we lose at least it will give most something new to moan about!

Ideal front 2 for me in this one is Slim and Vardy. Need Slims height against West Brom both offensively and defensively.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 11 October 2017 Posted 11 October 2017 Come on Shakey errm errm shake things up.
UPinCarolina Posted 11 October 2017 Posted 11 October 2017 Not happy about having to wait until Monday to see this one play out. At least we'll have a full understanding of what is at stake regarding the table then.
Ric Flair Posted 11 October 2017 Posted 11 October 2017 Play 4-4-2 and lose and he can get fcuked as far as I'm concerned. Show he's willing to change and adapt and show even a modicum of identity as a manager rather than be a yes man batty boy then I'll give him a chance.

We've had a tough start, but we've not started our easier games at all well, and if we have a rest, regroup and rethink and still can't beat West Brom then it looks like curtains. On that form we'll be cemented to the relegation zone by Christmas. Win it, and there's a glimmer of hope we've learnt from our mistakes and have kept our team spirit alive.
filbertway Posted 12 October 2017 Posted 12 October 2017 Logically this will be a walk in the park for them. No team is better at handling constant lumping of the ball, then they're a big strong team that will murder us on set pieces. Gonna go 0-2 to Balbion
mozartfox Posted 12 October 2017 Posted 12 October 2017 Given Pulis's fetish for CB's I am expecting a 'Hoof' fest of gigantic proportions.
WardyisPukka Posted 12 October 2017 Posted 12 October 2017 Fully expecting pulis to tactically outwit Shakespeare - go one nil down and we start hoofing the ball to vardy and okazaki for the last 20 mins

I'm all for picking an attacking team but if West Brom ended up picking us off on the counter 3 times and winning the game Shakey would be in serious bother. I would consider offering it to Chris Coleman if Shakey gets the boot. Wagner and Silva won't come now. Hoping for a morale boosting victory here though akin to the win at home to Liverpool last season under Shakey.

Hoping for a morale boosting victory here though akin to the win at home to Liverpool last season under Shakey. We absolutely battered Stoke last season playing both Gray and Mahrez but it's all about us taking the lead as ever in matches. If we don't then we're too sluggish and any revival is often too little, too late. I believe we're always better on the front foot and going at teams early, it was only under Ranieri in his early reign that we seemed to be better later on in games. Whenever we try and contain teams it leads to disaster which is why our away from is horrifying, we don't go out with the same abandon as we might at home. We are a team that defensively is always suspect, mainly down to the formation we play. However if we aren't going to implement a new system that might help us be sounder at the back but with enough ideas and options going forward then we must always try and start games fast and putting out a team best to do that which for me is Gray and Mahrez. There's zero creativity in the middle of the park so we must have our assets on the wing and Albrighton has had a very poor season so far, it's Demarai's time to shine.

We're at home, against a side like WBA, we shouldn't be concentrating on whether the full backs are exposed. Anyway, Albrighton is supposed to be this "defensive winger" yet our left side is constantly exposed. We lack creativity in midfield and often rely on Mahrez. That's it. At least Gray provides another option. Both him and Mahrez will at least get the ball down, run at players, hit long shots and look to generally create. Our central midfield are so content on passing sideways its shit to watch.
