Wymsey Posted 3 October 2017 Posted 3 October 2017 He said via press that he wants to have a ten-month break and then return. Give Shakespeare until end of season; he'll improve imo.

But from what I read, Heidenheim was in 2004 in the Oberliga (Bade-Wüttemberg) which is the fifth tier in the german system and about three levels above from where I played as amateur. To think that they're playing in the 2. Bundesliga in such a short time, without having a monster like Red Bull or Audi behind them is quite amazing, even if the jump to the first League will have to wait a bit longer. That said I personally think it'd be too much of a gamble to bring a manager who never managed in a first league. The 2. Bundesliga is simply not the PL. If we had to bring a Schmidt on the Roger one would have my preference. He's for me the german version of Marcelo Bielsa, as passionate and as tactically astute and the same bit of a wild card. If someone can bring back the bloke from China (told you he's a wild card), that'd be great. My ideal german coach would be Nagelsman though. Let's see what MC Prussian have to say about that. It is a pretty amazing story, and if you've not seen the film, you definitely should (I don't get royalties or anything, it's just a well made football documentary that shows you more behind the curtain, which I love - especially as it's not what I grew up with in terms of "British Managers". The whole coaching academy and excellence program in Germany is great too. I think they do have some backing but more a major monster. I agree he personally would be gamble, hence my comment on him being the German Eddie Howe, they just are made for each other. It's more his character and passion that I warmed to. I've heard Roger would be a fun manager to have - I think @MC Prussian has described him as an all or nothing coach!
Sir Shep Posted 17 October 2017 Author Posted 17 October 2017 Come on, wouldn't it be great, you know you want him

Gerard Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 We've been linked in this article, I can't see it myself but it's reassuring the club are aiming high if the Telegraph is to be believed. The likelihood is that Shakespeare’s successor will come from outside the club, with suggestions that the Srivaddhanaprabha family, and owner Vichai, would like a big name such as Carlo Ancelotti. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/10/17/craig-shakespeare-sacked-leicester-city-manager/

Lambert09 Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 I swear we always get knocked back by our first few targets before we drop to the list of actual realistic targets
Chrysalis Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 I feel this has to be the #1 target. Offer 8 million, if refuse raise to 10 mill, if refuse raise to 13 mill. Only then move to another target. With 13 mill annual salary and 180 mill turnover we could probably offer a player budget of 50-100 mill in the summer as well. Also ask him to recommend on who to replace rudkin with.

Tielemans63 Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 My brother in law works for one of the club's major partners and reckons it's Carlo Ancelotti's already. Usually I'd call bollocks but he did text me on Friday saying he'd heard Shakey was a goner if we didn't win yesterday. Make of it what you will.
chapero82 Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 I want a million pounds but I’m not going to get it
Guest Bob Hazels shorts Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 No harm in asking. Add the early pay offs we have been paying out to any wage earmarked

ZeGuy Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 We can also ask Pep, SAF, Mourinho, Zidane, Simeone, Trapattoni, Allegri... No harm in trying.
TrentFox Posted 17 October 2017 Posted 17 October 2017 Carlo Ancelotti ? That's an unusual way to spell Alan Pardew !!
