vanity Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 It appears that CAS can be quick in rendering a decision, as they have special ad hoc CAS panels they create during each Olympics in order to handle disputes within 24 hours. Assuming we can appeal to CAS, that is probably what I would pursue, see if they will do that in this case considering the circumstances. It isn't as if CAS has a very heavy docket.
Hammo Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 And the winners in all this palaver are...... Absolutely NOBODY!! (Although I imagine there's some petty jobsworth feeling rather chuffed with his day's work in Zurich this evening...)
vanity Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 2 hours ago, Matt said: Correct decision. Like it or not it was 14 seconds late, end of. All the ‘common sense’ arguments, rules are rules, the line has to be drawn, if Silva went on to score a goal sending someone down, keeping us up or changing where the title was going what a can of worms that’d open. To put another way if the ball wasn’t 100%, completely over the line, 14mm for example, it wouldn’t be given, simple as that. Someone is in the wrong, whether it be from our club or Sportings side but there now needs to be an internal enquiry, pinpoint who are at fault and the way we conduct our business, even if the fault is at Spirting side the way we conduct our business needs to be looked at and changed. People at our club need a rocket up their arses, we need to upgrade and overhaul. Transfer window after transfer window we are embroiled in some kind of saga. I’m frustrated and can’t be annoyed with FIFA, I understand their decision, I’m taking a step back, looking at the bigger picture and it keeps leading me back to the same area. This seems like a case of FIFA not following their own rules, actually.
Wymsey Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 So he was tearful in Sporting Lisbon's most-recent home game..for no reason? Not really surprised it's been rejected.
Ric Flair Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 If we've irrefutable evidence we submitted on time and FIFA have still thrown it out then just publicly release this evidence and ask the media to put pressure on FIFA. Everyone hates them anyway and this is exactly what the media will love. Throw some shit and don't spend another month mulling over an appeal with the arbitration of sport. Play dirty if needs be and show we're desperate to get him playing for us. Not allowing him to train with us has been a fcukin joke, I suspect he's already unimpressed by his new club.

Shakey seems to have a massive reluctance to start new signings stating 'needs time to adjust ' or ' not fit enough' After 3 months of no football, we won't see Silva until March!! Dragovic started two international games and then couldn't get into our match day squad due to not being physically fit enough... Why do we buy/loan these players?? I find it very frustrating that we are showing great reluctance to start new players. I would think that when you have built their fitness up to a certain basic level then the only way to progress that to "full Prem match fitness" is by playing them.
somebum Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 I called every last aspect of this fiasco not to brag but I now know I can trust my source in Lisbon 100%
winteriscoming Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Forgive me if this has already been mentioned but would it be possible to sign him on loan or appeal to fifa about signing him on loan. I know this is a longshoot but is it at least worth trying and coming to some arrangement with sporting

Thing is - no one really cares out there. The press have more important things to look into. If we were a top six club then perhaps but we aren't so only we are interested. Re accelerating a hearing at cas - I suspect both parties need to be prepared to do this. FIFA will just bat it away by stating they can't attend fully prepared until January, therefore making any appeal redundant. Can't see that making public our evidence will compromise our case but if a lot of it is technical re times on systems and computers etc then it won't likely be well received by the media anyway. We were supported by the FA in our appeal. Did they only do this to get their hands on their share of the transfer fee? Presumably they get that anyway. I can only deduce that they are if the opinion that we met the requirements to have the transfer ratified. If FIFA want to be intransigent re the evidence then I can't see there is much we can do other than threaten to sue the pants off them if we get relegated and any hearing at CAS ultimately finds in our favour with a view that FIFA have been negligent re our appeal. It remains a big fat mess ! at least the fella can train with us now and presumably can be involved in closed door frIendlies

Whether this is correct will very soon become clear and could make the present furore seem like a squabble at a toddlers day nursery .The honourable thing to do is get him training with the lads and organise a series of closed door games to fill the three months until we can sign him properly and he can hit the ground running in January . In the meantime, if we have reasonable grounds for an appeal to the CoS , we can get on with that as well. I think your theory could be correct @Gillies Apprentice as this is surely the only reason we wouldn't allow him to train with the squad? With Costa being able to train with Atletico it shows that there shouldn't be a reason to prevent Silva training with us. I really hope that we do the honourable thing and stand by the player rather than trying to nullify the transfer. We look bad enough already in this shambolic saga without making it worse. Both Silva and Shakespeare have been hung out to dry on this one. Whoever at LCFC is or are responsible for this fiasco need to be accountable for this sorry mess.
deep blue Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 "Fans" on this thread have been too quick to condemn their own club when they don't know the facts. If the club state that they, and all the other parties involved, have submitted paperwork in time then why not believe them (or would you prefer to place your reliance on the corrupt organisation that is FIFA?). It is quite believable that the stuff was SUBMITTED in time (which therefore complies literally with the FIFA rules), and that somehow it was stamped as being RECEIVED too late by FIFA. There are several reasons that could explain the time lag. It is totally in keeping with FIFA that they would seek to impose their authority, just for the sake of it, on a little club that doesn't have the weight to throw around, and that they would show no compunction in penalizing an innocent player. Give our club the benefit of the doubt, at least until proved otherwise.
Sindidragon Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Waiting for Drinkwater deal to go through cost us dearly. We ran out of time. However our admin should have ensured deal was done properly. Sack Rudkin now. There is Court of Arbitration for Sport. So keep hoping. Really sorry for the player and his family. In hindsight a suitcase of money for the FIFA official would have smoothed things over. But that would be corrupt right!!

katieakita Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Just a sorry state of affairs when he gets a harsher punishment than Suarez for biting a player (3rd time) and Conte for match fixing. Silva's crime is somebody else doing something wrong. Just mental and whoever's fault it is it shows football in a poor light. If Leicester were at fault a fine or future transfer ban would be more appropriate than punishing an innocent player

That can only mean that we were giving the impression that we were prepared to attempt to cancel the deal if we couldn't get our way. The club statement this evening shows that this is no longer the case and we accept him to be our player.

Its our own problem, we tried to be clever & rinse every last penny from the DD deal pushing us over the edge for this deal. What ever extra we made from DD is now going on Silva's wage even though he won't play until next year. On top of this we have a seriously depleted midfield.
