Its our own problem, we tried to be clever & rinse every last penny from the DD deal pushing us over the edge for this deal. What ever extra we made from DD is now going on Silva's wage even though he won't play until next year. On top of this we have a seriously depleted midfield. I was all for this approach but I made the mistake of assuming our club was capable of managing both deals within the required timeframe. They appear to be claiming that they did. Won't help though!

If we were a top six club then perhaps but we aren't so only we are interested. Re accelerating a hearing at cas - I suspect both parties need to be prepared to do this. FIFA will just bat it away by stating they can't attend fully prepared until January, therefore making any appeal redundant. Can't see that making public our evidence will compromise our case but if a lot of it is technical re times on systems and computers etc then it won't likely be well received by the media anyway. We were supported by the FA in our appeal. Did they only do this to get their hands on their share of the transfer fee? Presumably they get that anyway. I can only deduce that they are if the opinion that we met the requirements to have the transfer ratified. If FIFA want to be intransigent re the evidence then I can't see there is much we can do other than threaten to sue the pants off them if we get relegated and any hearing at CAS ultimately finds in our favour with a view that FIFA have been negligent re our appeal. It remains a big fat mess ! at least the fella can train with us now and presumably can be involved in closed door frIendlies The media will jump on any evidence that proves FIFA are coonts
Sindidragon Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 We need to seriously address the issue of our midfield. The engine has been removed. First Kante now Drinkwater gone. May mean using youth such as Barnes or Choudhury. Whatever we do it's got to be something new and CREATIVE because at the moment we just ain't producing any chances. Maybe this Silva fiasco has happened so that we are forced to introduce new ideas and new untested players. What have got to lose? Otherwise we are going to get relegated.

Everyone hates them anyway and this is exactly what the media will love. Throw some shit and don't spend another month mulling over an appeal with the arbitration of sport. Play dirty if needs be and show we're desperate to get him playing for us. Not allowing him to train with us has been a fcukin joke, I suspect he's already unimpressed by his new club. I'm sure it has already been said, but I think that this has been the basis of our appeal, namely regarding the word 'submit'. FIFA rules say that the paperwork must be submitted before the deadline. I believe that the club are confident and could probably prove that it was submitted on time however it was not received on time. If this is the case, technically, I think that the club should have won the argument and FIFA need to re word their rules.

I would think that when you have built their fitness up to a certain basic level then the only way to progress that to "full Prem match fitness" is by playing them. Big changes need to be made in personnel both on and off the pitch. £150m wasted in the Transfer market and still we cry out for that creative midfielder!

Sindidragon Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Iborra is the key. Keep him fit then we have a chance. Otherwise it's grim. Silva will arrive in January with us already relegated. But hey come on let's get behind the club and be positive!! We do a 3rd great escape

foxtillidrop Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Absolute shambles dabbling around in the transfer market on deadline day. Selling Danny Drinkwater (one of they key members of the title winning team) on the last day is pure stupidity. All those lost wages between now and January that we are spending on Silva could have paid for our season tickets many times over. I mean what the hell?! I'm pretty sure it wasn't Shakey's idea to let Drinky go. The midfield is diabolical at the moment.

The whole world smiles Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Forget selling Drinkwater, it had to happen especially after his transfer request. The big mistake here (other than the obvious) was letting Mendy go on loan when he would be starting games at the minute.

Daggers Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Rank ineptitude. There’s a whole number of things going really wrong and this cock-up is just a symptom of a wider problem.

This Silva situation sums it up perfectly. Optimism followed by a dramatic cock up. We were comfortably the most attractive proposition outside of the traditional big 5/6. Be a part of the 'Leicester story', play in the Champions League, help continue the fairytale and make us a top 8 Premier League side. It doesn't matter what way you look at it, right now with the current state of the club - not one of our signings can be judged as a great investment. Hundreds of millions of prize money from the PL and CL. Not one signing where we can honestly say we have the confidence in them now. The only ones that are good investments are either not being used correctly (Ndidi) or will probably be pushed out of the team for Huth (Maguire). And yet they could be. But here we are week after week begging for a change in approach, tactic, formation whatever the hell you want to call it but it will never, ever happen. Everyone's comfortable. No one's accountable. No one knows what's going on. From the board room to the pitch, we are a one dimensional shambles who will never be an established Premier League (let alone top 10 PL!) side unless we see some sort of change! I suggest that maybe we won it a year or two early, to fully exploit it. Very sad
