Way before Drinkwater was going and Silva was replacing him. We've yet again spent the whole of August for two seasons running just pissing about and then making half arsed attempts on the final few days of the window to get some more signings in. We're the pits. Drinkwater was at the Chelsea training ground at 9am.
Matt Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Correct decision. Like it or not it was 14 seconds late, end of. All the ‘common sense’ arguments, rules are rules, the line has to be drawn, if Silva went on to score a goal sending someone down, keeping us up or changing where the title was going what a can of worms that’d open. To put another way if the ball wasn’t 100%, completely over the line, 14mm for example, it wouldn’t be given, simple as that. Someone is in the wrong, whether it be from our club or Sportings side but there now needs to be an internal enquiry, pinpoint who are at fault and the way we conduct our business, even if the fault is at Spirting side the way we conduct our business needs to be looked at and changed. People at our club need a rocket up their arses, we need to upgrade and overhaul. Transfer window after transfer window we are embroiled in some kind of saga. I’m frustrated and can’t be annoyed with FIFA, I understand their decision, I’m taking a step back, looking at the bigger picture and it keeps leading me back to the same area.
m4DD0gg Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Well for those without a season ticket who want one they will be quite freely available next season.

Not necessarily, for a couple of reasons. 1) being if we could prove we sent the documents on time, then regardless of any delay in FIFA getting them it might be grounds for over turning. 2) FIFA have ratified a similar scenario with John Guidetti before so rules are not rules if there's caveats to them that might change the decision.

reynard Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Not surprised. What a shambles this is. I'm sorry but we are totally at fault here. It doesn't matter who said what to whom or who demanded what from whom at the last minute. We've had all summer to sort out the transfer business. Drinkwater's sale should not have been sanctioned until a player had been brought in and that paperwork cleared. It is hard to believe that we didn't have a hunch about Drinkwater going to Chelsea, it wasn't exactly a state secret. The club owe it to the fans to come out now and conduct some proper press interviews. I can't see they have any remaining options to appeal so whatever they say is unlikely to predjudice anything at all. Any director of football could have looked at our central midfield options over the summer and realised we needed to make changes. They knew Mendy was going and that James is injury prone and that Drinkwater would probably leave if Chelsea came in for him which was always likely to happen and that he was carrying a long term injury. They must also surely recognise that both King and Amartey and merely cover. It is a mess that could cost us our place in the premier league.
Farrington fox Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Meanwhile Drinky keeps the Chelsea bench warm.
Dr The Singh Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 The owners are the people in charge, if they care for the club, there needs to be action, not just on this but the state of the club.

Can't remember who it was or the reason he gave. Yet Costa can train at Atletico and they are under a Transfer Ban until January?? You cannot make this shite up.

brucey Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Silva's brother the personal trainer was at our training ground this morning at the same time this news broke. Not sure if that means anything Lots of people moaning, if it makes you lot feel better, you could pretend we have an injured Drinkwater instead of Silva sitting in the stands.

Listen the powers the be within our club couldn't negotiate their way out of a revolving door let alone a legal battle. We're screwed whilst they're still employed by the club, action is needed.

And what if you were parked 14mm over a double yellow line? Would that be reasonable? Common sense and proportion needed to be applied. A way through it could have been found if there was any will. FIFA is ridiculous. Fcking sham of an organisation and always has been.
SheppyFox Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 We have a good looking squad now, a very good looking squad as of January. It’s now upto shakey to work with what he has and get results.
Legend_in_blue Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Clearly FIFA do not use timings rounded to the nearest minute. Meanwhile DD sits and does sweet f-all as well.

Gillies Apprentice Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 I don't believe the training ban has anything to do with FIFA , my hunch is that this is the idea of the club lawyers in order to leave us the armaggedon option of litigation against Sporting and refusing to pay the transfer fee. Whether this is correct will very soon become clear and could make the present furore seem like a squabble at a toddlers day nursery .The honourable thing to do is get him training with the lads and organise a series of closed door games to fill the three months until we can sign him properly and he can hit the ground running in January . In the meantime, if we have reasonable grounds for an appeal to the CoS , we can get on with that as well.

This is the point for me. We needed Silva AND Drinkwater. James, Amartey, King, Iborra in a 442...none of them good enough. Now, we have neither. Ridiculous
