FIFA reject Adrien Silva appeal

Don't know what all the fuss is about,  CS wouldnt even play him.We have 40 -50 million pounds of summer transfers sitting on the bench most f**king games and a goal keeper most haven't set eyes on yet.

If only we'd kept Steve Walsh and made lots of big signings, then we'd be challenging the top spots like Everton.

LCFC messed up big time. Whatever statement they put out, someone at the club has not done their job properly. There's no hiding from that. FIFA have (finally) made their decision. Time for the team to move on.

It's the player I feel sorry for. If he never set eyes on Leicester again, who could blame him?

All we as fans can do is hope that in the long run it all turns out well for player and club.... and - to soften the blow a bit - that Drinkwater stays injured until January!

Adrien Silva: Fifa Registration Decision Upheld

Leicester City Football Club has received notification from FIFA’s Players’ Status Committee that the international transfer of Adrien Silva from Sporting Clube de Portugal to Leicester City has not been approved.

The Club is therefore unable to complete the registration of Adrien’s transfer from Sporting. As a result, he will be ineligible for selection until January, when the transfer window – and its associated registration period – re-opens.

A Leicester City spokesman said: “We cannot hide our disappointment or that of the player at the short-term consequences of the decision.

“We maintain, and have made strong representations to FIFA’s Players’ Status Committee, that all parties involved in Adrien’s transfer fulfilled their obligations, consistent with FIFA regulations and within the required timeframe. The Club is reserving its position in relation to whether it will decide to appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

“The Club and its staff will continue to work with Adrien to hopefully minimise the impact that missing a substantial period of the season may have on the player, while continuing to prepare the squad for the games ahead.”

wow to the sense of outrage here

this was always the likely outcome.

there was a deadline, we didnt make it so got what we deserve.

we took too long to agree a fee with chelsea for DD, should have given them a deadline with more time to spare and if they had not met it just said both deals were off.

time for the club to man up and accept it and look forward to having the player in Jan.

Pull the other one please.  Treat your Supporters with some respect LCFC!  If everything was done correctly, then why the f**k have we been had over by FIFA??  Utter Bollocks and a shocking press release if ever there was one.

Following on from the Numpties of Zuruch earlier in the day, I make that two shaftings in one day - most ladies of the night would be chuffed at this.....

Stunned and disappointed in all this however if the club maintains it complied with all the requirements then go straight to the CAS and appeal. No point messing around if the club complied with the rules then the CAS must overturn the FIFA ruling.

Rob Tanner has claimed that he can now train with the squad?! Hows that possible I wonder?

I would ask the opposite how can they stop someone, anyone training with LCFC. you hear all the time of ex-players training with clubs they're not signed up with.

Agreed if the Club are telling the truth.

He'll be ready for the Great Escape Part 2

Unless of course we cock it up even more and he goes back

Cos he thinks we're a load of amateurs

Ps: I know this can't happen but if I was him in a World Cup year I'd be looking at the small print now

As he won't be match fit on 1st January, he may get first PL start away to Chelsea...

More likely he'll be ready for his debut in the PL match vs Spurs away!

"FIFA insist that because the FA received the digital documentation, through their own Transfer Matching System, 14 seconds after the deadline that Silva cannot represent the club until the next transfer window opens.

However, City believe they have presented a case that proves they uploaded the documentations before the deadline, as is worded in FIFA’s own transfer guidelines."

Not that it matters, but we discussed using this precise argument on this board. If we have shown we followed the written rules, but FIFA is ignoring those rules as written, and instead going with the time received, we should do more than file an appeal with CAS -- we should pursue litigation against FIFA for damages. Blow this amateur hour nonsense right the F up. Frankly, that might've been the right way to go from the jump, create some leverage and pressure prior to the appeal, but I can see both sides to moving so aggressively.

Not that it would get Silva playing obviously. The appeal to CAS makes some sense I suppose. Is there really no accelerated mechanism for hearing time-sensitive appeals? Astonishing, that.

I don't understand why he can't train with the team?

Costa has no issues yet he can't play until Jan 18 either.

From what I've read (on here mainly) it's us showing FIFA we weren't assuming the result of the appeal and testing him as 'our' player!

There is very little point in signing him even in January..

Shakey seems to have a massive reluctance to start new signings stating 'needs time to adjust ' or ' not fit enough'

After 3 months of no football, we won't see Silva until March!!

Dragovic started two international games and then couldn't get into our match day squad due to not being physically fit enough...

Why do we buy/loan these players??

Ah well, whatever.

Go with what we've got.... but you this means we must recognise that 4-4-1-1 isn't working for us no more! Even if we tweeked it to 4-2-3-1 with two holding mf shielding the back four, at least we should experiment.

But maybe we should do this after the next three games? - if we win these, all will be rosier.
