We have kept a dignified silence and not played it out in the press and not commented on it, as is proper. Imagine if it was Mourinho or Ferguson or even Warnock they would have been bellyaching every chance they get, calling FIFA a disgrace highlighting the injustice and ridiculousness and calling the whole thing what it is, an absolute farce over fourteen seconds. They would be demanding a full review of the whole process, pointing the finger at the FA, FIFA, Sporting, the telecommunications company. They would have made it as embarrassing as possible for everyone involved and kept it in the public eye every chance. Really put pressure on FIFA and made sure everyone knew that if it didn't go their way they would do carry on in the same manner. I have no idea if that would have made any difference, but you feel like if there had more press behind it, more pressure from all quarters we might have got a better result. It also would have distracted from the appalling onfield performances. We have,as we normally do, gone about our business professionally and in a dignified manner and it feels like we have been punished for doing so. I agree in the most part, except submitting documents late isn't professional!

foxinsocks Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 In many trasactions there is the concept of an atomic transaction that cannot be split. Eg if i update a data base and debit one account and credit another... if there's a problem with the credit then the whole thing is rolled back. Surely player transfers should be atomic. . . If silvas registration is incomplete he must still be a sporting player. If i was him i would argue that and seek restraint from fifa preventing this from being rolled back. ... even if this mess is not fifas fault they should not have a system where limbo is an outcome

The Guvnor Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 What a fcuking shambles. And Sporting confirming his departure and fees etc before the ink was dry makes you wonder if they knew of the impending lash up. Would be interesting to know if they are completely blameless in this debacle as there were rumours of last minute price hikes , only rumours I know but neverless the truth is out there. If it was a joint fcuk up then surely our club could try and nulify the deal, if they thought that was the best outcome for us and Silva.

Honestly rather have Amartey, N'didi, Iborra trio. Just make sure Amartey isn't asked to track any runners. To be fair to amartey, I think he was improving as a cm last season then he went to the cup of nations. Then ndidi came in and he rightly lost his place but a bit of a shame too as he had improved. In a 3 I'm sure he would be fine.

Will we ever know? If we sent docs to the FA too late for them to do their side, then it is still our fault. If we sent docs to the FA on time, and they messed up, then they should give us some compensation. I doubt it was the latter, and more likely that we just pressed send to late ourselves.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 I did say that the club is being run in a shambolic way at the moment. This is utter fookin nonsense it really is. Our best midfielder has gone and we have no one yet to replace him. Saying that...FIFA really are a bunch of tossers aren't they.

The Guvnor Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 This will surely now end the eleventh hour deals in the transfer window, Sky sports transfer deadline day after 6pm will be a hoot.
Glorious Leicester Fan Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Heads will roll over this. We are constantly told that football is a commercial business. If a CEO/Managing director of a commercial company made a catastrophic **** up of a multimillion pound transaction they would expect to be sacked. We cannot blame FIFA. The 14 seconds is irrelevant. The rules are the rules. In the past I evaluated multi million pound tender submissions. We had a closing date and time. If a submission was received after the stated time and date it was always rejected. There was one occasion when a colleague accepted a late submission. The competing bidders became aware of this, complained and successfully sued the company. Suffice to say my colleague was dismissed.

After winning the title I don’t understand how things have gone so sour so soon I can, we've not improved our executives off the field in any way, some of them have been here since League One. We've lost a setup as well in management and recruitment that was positive and proactive and again scarcely been replaced. Hopefully this will anger our owners so much that they look at the bigger picture and take drastic action. We need a huge overhaul, otherwise they ought to sell us.

There should be leniency, but as they say "rules are rules".
FrankieADZ Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 in all in all though on the whole Silva saga just shows what a shambles the club is in from top to bottom since we won the league

Not to mention letting Mendy go as well on deadline day. Him, Iborra and Ndidi could easily play in a 3 for us and be competitive at this level.

You know what else pisses me off about this, it is not FIFA who decide when the transfer window is, it is the FA, it has nothing to do with FIFA when the deadline is set they just require 2 windows a season. Spain had an extra 24 hours to sign players, next year the FA/PL has decided the summer window will close before the start of the season. It should be up to the local Footballing Authorities, they decide on the deadline they should enforce it. All of these arguments and more should have been spread through the press, repeatedly until everyone was sick of the whole saga and the pressure built up on FIFA.

This is why I'm actually shocked FIFA rejected it once FA requested it be ratified. If the FA weren't willing to put their name to it then I could understand, but they have publicly backed our appeal. This might lead to some serious changes to transfers and rightly so, football is bollocks.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 You can see why FIFA are taking a hard line. Imagine the extent to which clubs would take the piss if they had a whole extra 14 seconds to play with. It would be chaos
Stadt Posted 4 October 2017 Posted 4 October 2017 Absolutely shít football club, they'll probably leave Shakey out to dry when he's fielded questions about this fiasco - again.
