Everton 2-0 (H) Post Match Thread

... sigh of relief ... I just felt we really needed to get the three points to build the confidence levels and the clean sheet is a real bonus.  Chuffed as the mutts nuts tonight, especially as I work with two toffees .... tomorrows going to be so much easier to deal with!

Mirallas was inches away from scoring against us...again - and the Fuchs tackle on Lennon was a definite penalty. The second half would have been uncomfortable at best.

Wonderful move for the first goal. 2015-16 again.

Me to, can't wait for a bit of Walsh banter with my two

I'm gonna start with, it was all in our master plan to destroy a decent club

Leaving this here. Vardy scored it, but it's Gray's goal. Fantastic from the young lad, and what a cross from Riyad.

Look at the way Ibora kept up with the break. He could have been played in by Gray or slotted the cross from Riyad.

The hard work was done in the first 30 minutes by killing them off with the 2 goal lead, after that we controlled it and they never really threatened due to the quality of the defending and there lack of any real threat.

Wayne Rooney deserves some of the 'banter he gets - over-rated and childish individual, and hardly a good leader to their potential youngsters.

How can you be a Potential youngster?lol

From The Grand Old Team:

"Multi million pound talent either on the bench or not even in the squad ,a championship forward line , a geriatric defense and a hasbeen who glues pubes on his head
yeah be scared"

lol Loving some schadenfreude.

"Hasbeen who glues pubes on his head" fuching classic?

Iborra played well- watch him for Vardy's goal. He shows for the ball 2 or 3 times, doesn't get a touch but sees Vards slam it in and goes nuts lol he's like a fan that got onto the pitch there

Great to see a set up suited to our players and the 2017/18 Premier League. We have so much potential in this squad.

Gray excellent, but so were Simpson, Iborra and Ndidi. Fuchs worries m e though and Albrighton should've come on earlier.

Hmm interesting. Puel and Mahrez pictured walking together and Puel explaining something in detail. Good to see, and seems like Puel's taking a special effort with him.

(Disclaimer: I know it's just one camera shot, but it's an interesting one you don't often see after matches)

Or it could be that he's the only player we have that speaks French :)

Got so much time for what Puel did today. Wasn't afraid to shake things right up and ended up producing quite a comfortable victory. Very impressed with him.

We could've easily had more if we'd got our final ball right a couple more times.

Onwards and upwards. Rated what I saw today.

Good goal but apart from that didn't see much different than what came before. Everton were absolutely shocking and as poor as Brighton were. Good on Puerto on getting a really good effort out of Gray.

Well we certainly played on the "floor" - very little hoof ball and some lightning and direct attacking. Some wildness and "fight" - so for me everything we really didn´t show under Shakey

Puel got the best out of Hatem Ben Arfa at Nice. In his first game, he's essentially made Mahrez the main man by allowing him to drift around and being freed up defensively. I think it's encouraging because taking your best technical player and getting the most out of him is surely going to pay dividends in the long run. I think he's handling him well, though of course it's been just one game. But I will say one thing, since winning the title Mahrez doesn't pass nearly as much to Vardy and I feel that there is a bit of an ego battle between him and Vardy as to who is main man at the club. The thing Riyad needs to remember is that as the attacking midfielder assists are what he's supposed to do! There is just as much beauty in providing as scoring when you're playing that role. Anyway the reaction after the goal from all of Mahrez, Vardy, Gray and Iborra was great to see.

I don't want to get too excited but on paper we have a great keeper, good defenders, a proven premier league striker with pace and a technical magician who has the X-factor. PLENTY of good things to work with AND we have plenty of attacking talent on the bench and the former captain of Sporting Lisbon coming into the team in January.

Just remembered Sigurdsson came on for them. Didn’t notice him at all.

I noticed his terrible corners!
