The Globe hasn't changed a bit in all the years I've visited it … proper pub and long may that continue.

Beers not great in there though sadly

In Syston, a new 'micropub' (where the 'Mind' charity shop used to be on High Street) is set to open this week.

Heard good things about this place.

Cobs and pork pies, that's my sort of food menu lol gonna give it a try the weekend we are playing wolves as a change from the local.

There’s a new micropub that’s opened just around the corner from me in Mountosorrel aptly named “the sorrel fox”. Very chilled in there, plenty of real ales for them that like it and a selection of others. Had a “thundering molly” cider and it tasted similar to stowford press. The only lager they had on tap was stigl. But still, a very nice place.

Main part of the Old Horse is closed for 4/5 weeks for a refurb,  side bar is open with a large poraloo out front.

New bar on Queens Rd is thankfully not going to be a cocktail bar as rumoured. Will be called 100&six. No idea what it will be like though.

It’s surprisingly very decent, the theme is very weird though. They’ve had some decent beers on the few times I’ve been in, mixed in with the not so decent camra type real ales to keep the locals happy.

Sounds interesting. Hopefully it'll be a success.

Anstey and Charnwood Ales have open up a place in Anstey centre called Mash and Press

It's Charnwood Cider mate, different kettle of fish I think – explains the Press part of the name at least.

Sounds like there's a fair few tidy little micros opening in the county now.

Is this where Cultura used to be on Queens Road? That was the strangest gaff, huge potential but never realised it.

Yes. Started off really well but lost it's direction due to the manager completely screwing it up.

Broood has gone.

Yep he's gone back to insolvency law.

Said he couldn't turn the offer down and couldn't get anyone to take it on.

If you're out Mahkedahbra way, the Coach and Horses in Lubenham does really decent grub.
