Grow up and get behind Riyad, or: stop listening to the press and wait and see how he reacts on the pitch

I am pretty sure that the owners didn't want 95m in cash , I am sure they wanted a cash sum up front plus a player in exchange with the whole deal being worth 95m. You have a good night and keep smiling.

Think it was more like 80

i don’t think that random guy is right but it would be well funny if he was.

isnt “business as usual” nobody coming to training when we had an away game 12 hours before?

nah i doubt he will, he’ll be back next week and in the eleven for man city and rinse the shit out of them and nobody will even remember this ever happened.

lol

Well to to use your terminology from earlier that would be literlally not a story so why say anything.

if you actually believe that he's going to rinse Man City I'd get looking at some odds you could make yourself a few quid and look like Nostradamus at the same time.

I read original post early this am and was one of the first to give it Rep...Been out most of the day but did take quick look at lunch time and there were couple of pages of replies....Very surprised this evening to see it has reached over 20pages...Have to be honest haven’t had time to read all the replies and have quickly scanned through the thread and hey ho seems like the catalyst for the surge in replies is our old friends Sky Sports Centre breaking news that Riyad didn’t turn up for training today ? ...To be honest I for one would have been more surprised if he had....I think it’s reasonable to expect that it will take a few  days for the dust to settle ( I know he’s under contract , being paid a fortune etc etc )

Maybe it’s a generation thing ( I’m the wrong side of 60 ) but I increasingly despair at the way all modern media outlets make every story sensational with hyperbole....Even more despairing  is how many people seem to lap it all up, take everything as gospel and then post replies and comments that are so over reactive , and the thing spirals out of control.

Anyway back to our friends at Sky Sports in particular their news teams......Not a huge fan but do regularly check in a few times a day to see what’s going on..If I knew how to nominate a programmer for a BAFTA comedy award I would nominate them especially on Transfer Deadline Day.  Watched a lot of it yesterday  with increasing amusement as each presenter got more excited than the previous one whilst repeating the same bull...Funniest was mid afternoon when presenter asked 2pundits what does Aubameyang bring to Arsenal. Don’t remember who it was but pundit immediately replied he has good legs ??? thought I was watching an audition for Love Island or some other junk TV..

So to Mahrez....yep he has acted badly but blame Man City for their ridiculously late and low offer, blame his agent/ advisors for what they tell him every transfer window , blame him for being so easily swayed but at end of the day he is still our player who should be supported loudly and proudly when he hopefully is back in the team helping us to a top 7 finish and hopefully Cup win ....Unfortunately the events of last few transfer windows are a consequence of our recent success and having prize assets that the so called big boys want and will do anything to get ....

I doubt he will turn up until after the next game. His head will need serious sorting out.

Hate to say it but I feel like the 31st of January is going to be the defining moment in our season :(. When he comes back, I also wonder if we will be at the races or if his head will have dropped? Clearly an emotional guy.

As I've said before I wonder how Puel will deal with it. So far he's been awesome with Mahrez, but this is probably a situation that even he can't handle.

LCFC eh? Never dull for a moment!

If Man City hadn't spent so much on defenders this wouldn't be an issue.

Pep needs to learn that you don't get attackers for defenders money, no matter how much you whinge. I think Riyad has been let down more by Man City, than he has by us.

I doubt he will play again for us. But it just sums him up, he’s either pathetic or is being poorly advised, and the players will be less than impressed by his actions.

Is he thick? The Man City link was purely because Sane and Jesus have issues at the moment, he would simply be there to tie them over until they’re fit again. Mahrez is a wonderful player, and technically is probably better than Sane, but will he offer what sane does? No. So as soon as they were back, it’s bench time for Mahrez.

He signed a contract, a long term contract with the club, if he wanted out he shouldn’t have signed it, losing him for a cut price and no replacement would have significantly weakened us, and to that prized Bellend Alan Smith... we’re aiming to be the best we can be.

If Mahrez is going to drag his heels and act childish then more fool him, because no one will come in for him if he keeps having Diva strops... because what if a bigger club comes in for him at his next club, will he do the same again?

And to all the cloth eared pundits, it’s Leicester city on that trophy, not Riyad Mahrez.

What exactly did Alan Smith have to say? lol

He was moaning about us holding on to Mahrez, and he said “well what are leicester actually hoping to achieve” as if to say we’re done following our title win.

I doubt Man City had a great interest in him when push came to shove.

He hasn't exactly been a player that has caused them much bother bar a certain anniversary in a few days time. He couldn't even take a penalty right the last time he was there.

Looks like the title win has gone to his head more than anyone else. He cites Kante going to Chelsea but only for the release clause Kante might have stayed. He doesnt appear to have any notions about himself. Just gets on with what he does.

If one of the elite clubs comes in with a genuine bid that matches our valuation I wouldnt stand in his way but you have to let this thing happen naturally. He might have a hard time realizing it but perhaps the clubs he wants to join just are not interested.

Got offered the opportunity to get a free Premier League medal, play in one of the most highly acclaimed squads in the history of the Premier League for a manager that's somehow made Raheem ****ing Sterling look world class. Imagine what he'd do with Riyad.

Forgive me a bit of shameless rep-point grandstanding but he's helped us get promoted, helped us win the league, helped us get to the quarter finals of the champions league. Just like Drinkwater, he had every right to look to progress his career and do so with our support and gratitude. That's football, folks.

All he did was request a transfer. There's been no downing of tools, no flouncing off, no refusing to play, no kicking up a fuss. He was a consummate pro after the summer, got his head down and got back to his very best.

Nothing to suggest he isn't going to do so again now.

He's probably leaving in the summer and when he does, cest la vie. Until he does, he's one of ours and he's a big part of our push to get back to our European tour. I for one can't wait to see the bright lights of Tallinn, Kharkiv, Warsaw and Tirana in the tin pot cup.

So please, stow the childish bitterness, stop buying in to the pathetic Sky Sports narrative that he's causing disruption in the squad, don't believe the melodrama and just ****ing support him and the rest of the lads.

'Cool story, bro.'

Like Danny Murphy said 'he's outgrown little Ole Leicester'

We should let him leave for 25m and be bloody grateful we are getting a good price and be honoured he is joining an elite club.

Us 'little clubs' should not upset the status quo, its disrespectful to the 'bigger clubs'

Apologies if this has been said , but I honestly think that this will blow over and he will go for a massive sum in the summer. We've seen it time and time again at other clubs when the star player has thrown a barny because no one will pay the going rate but they want a move, and then 6 months the interested club coughs up. Didn't this happen with van dijk or have I got it confused. Man city are one of the biggest culprits for inflating the market, you reap what you sow.

He's a colossal penis about us all the time. Very disrespectful. It's funny considering he likes to tow the ex Leicester player line when we're doing well.

If you take the name Riyad Mahrez, take some letters out, add some other letters in and mix them up, you get the words, "devil's gonads".

FACT!

And more factual than most of what I've read and heard today.

I know for a fact that is absolute bullshit!

Man City only became interested after Mahrez’s ‘super agent’ initiated the move due to the Sane injury & thought he could bully us into a deal

Does any one else remember matt Elliot talking about Danny Murphy's antics in the summer on radio Leicester. Basically said Murphy was a complete tool belt. Spot on analysis as always ?

If Pep wanted him in the summer he would of told his club to pay the £50m asking price rather than spending it on full backs! Mahrez was a panic buy that they thought was possible due to agents

I really don't think that the owners valuation is unrealistic in this market given that statistically he's on par with the likes of Coutinho and Hazard.

To put that into context let's say Man City had offered £70m and we had accepted, do people honestly think that he is half the player that Coutinho is?!?

The fact that Man City got nowhere near £70m says a lot about how they actually rate him. I get the impression given Riyad's actions during the past two windows and the fact that he has publicly stated his desire to play for Barcelona that he considers himself to be a top top player, yet Pep stated today 'Maybe in the future we can buy players for £100m but it will be for a special player', which suggests to me that given Man City's bid of £50m plus one of their random fringe player's that he really doesn't consider Mahrez to be anywhere near a 'special player'. If I was Mahrez I actually think I'd feel quite insulted by Pep's comments today as it shows that they only ever really saw him as a stop gap to fill in whilst Sane recovers and nothing more.

For those saying that we're being unreasonable by holding out for a fair valuation and not allowing him to move let's not forget that a contract is a two way street. There was a point last season where we potentially looked like we could get relegated. To play devil's advocate, let's say we had gone down and then upon relegation got hit with a massive fine by the Football League and were subsequently forced to cut costs to avoid further sanctions in line with FFP, with no suitors for Mahrez due to his poor form last season, and his £100k a week salary being restrictive to a transfer, would Mahrez have agreed to take a pay cut to reflect dropping down a league in order to protect the interests of the club? I think the answer would most certainly have been 'no'.

For the record, I do think that under the current circumstances given market conditions that his wage is not reflective of his valuation so this needs to change in fairness to him, however I really don't know how we approach this matter as it'd be wholly inappropriate to be seen to be rewarding such recent behaviour and send out the wrong message to the rest of the squad.

Hopefully he sees sense and we can all move on from the debacle. I'm not angry with him as he deserves the chance to play at a top club as I'll never forget his contribution to us winning the PL, but I must say that I'm very very disappointed with how he's gone about his business in the last few days.

RMC Sport is a highly questionable source of information, particularly in this matter - I bet the agent planted some info on a number of French channels, claiming that there was an earlier approach by Manchester City in order to shift the blame.

In case you're asking me: "Are you implying they're biased?" Well, their head of football department is Mohamed Bouhafsi.

Yes, you're guessing right - he's Algerian.
