Grow up and get behind Riyad, or: stop listening to the press and wait and see how he reacts on the pitch

No idea, but if he's available at a low-ish price then it's something of a no-brainer for them and Riyad I'd have thought. He gets his move to a top club under a top manager, they get a proven game changer to rotate with their other options. Pure guesswork on my part, obviously

A cut price you say? Like Van Dijk and Coutinho went for after doing similar? Look at Berahino, even he didn't get what he wanted in the end. The days of player power is shifting slightly due to smaller clubs having a lot more financial backing to not cave in. He's playing a dangerous game is Riyad if the media is to be believed.

That remains to be seen. Player prices will continue to increase up until this summer, there's a common theme there. I don't believe he'll be sold for less than £65m.

I'm not even sure the owners and the management were so opposed to a move for the £65m mentioned as the last amount Manchester City were open to discuss yesterday, it may well be that the timing was the decisive factor (both on Riyad's and Manchester City's behalf) - that and the lack of a formal offer.

Yeah he won't be going cheap regardless, but £65m or even a little more is something of a steal for someone of his quality in my opinion. The ideal scenario would obviously be him sorting his head out for good and staying here, but with that seeming pretty unlikely the best we can hope for is that he calms down, performs for a few more months and then leaves for a reasonable price. I think the owners and execs would probably have been looking for a little more than the £65m quoted but I agree the lateness of the "offer" didn't do anyone any favours

lumbered with the best player we've ever had and one of the best players on the planet. what a shame.

as a few others have said, i'm not really sure not turning up to training is actually much news at all, all things considered. obviously there was going to be a slightly tense, cooling off period. unless anyone can find out that we demanded he went to training today and he whatsapped claude with a middle finger emoji and he's currently on the fruity in the market tavern, then it's only half a news story. just like him "going awol" last night, when in reality we'd obviously said you're not gonna be in the matchday squad, so he just had a day off.

it'll get resolved in a couple of days. unfortunately it seems we have all agreed on a few days to sort himself out which means he won't be playing at the weekend, you'd assume, but then he'll be back and it'll all be forgotten. and we'll be bloody lumbered with him, what a shame.

That’s a pretty hefty fine for something that’s not really news worthy scouse lad. Or is the 200k fine not really news either?

Could get messy this :-/

Cut price was probably something of an overstatement, my bad. What I meant was, if they pick him up in the summer I doubt it'll be for the £85-90m odd most of us think he's worth, and I think anything lower than that would be a good deal for Man City on account of his immense quality. The Van Dijk and Coutinho deals are maybe reasons to be optimistic, but as everyone keeps pointing out our players seem to be valued much lower relative to those of other clubs for whatever reason. Maybe we'd have been better off sticking a great big ****er of a release clause in his contract after all, at least then when he inevitably left we could be sure we'd be getting decent money

Are you?

Everyone is incredibly keen to believe every little rumour and bullshit story they hear on Sky sports.

I'm a lot more interested in how he plays on the pitch and I don't think he's ever really sulked after not being sold.

So he is not sulking now and is ready and willing to start on Saturday and run his socks off for the cause, yeh right we will see.You have spouted some absolute tripe on this thread.

Thai owners promised him he could leave if he stayed for the champions league season.

So I think we have gone against our word here. We should've taken the 60 mil and let him go

Vichai- Riyad lad, I know you want to leave but I promise you, we will let you go next summer, if you play a little champions league...sound good?

Riyad- Really boss, you promise? Because I really really want to leave...

Vichai- Riyad, I am a man of my word...

Riyad- Pinky Swear

Vichai- Pinky Swear

...............

Riyad- So boss, remember when you promised I could leave..

Vichai- Oh ofcourse Riyad, I'll sort that lad, don't you worry yourself

MC- So we've heard Riyad wants to leave...we are willing to offer 60million of our finest pound notes.

Vichai- Get f***** c****. Gimme 95 million or suck a d***...

MC- ?

............

Vichai- Riyad no one wants you, I tried my best. Looks like you're staying with the mighty Leicester. But I promise we will sell you in the next transfer window ??

Riyad- ?

Yeah that sure seems legit.

Not really. Goal posts shift so often in football at the moment (ha pun) that what is a decent release clause in 2017 is relatively inexpensive in as little as a year.

as it stands......

does riyad believe he is good enough for a top club (or arsenal) but not good enough for a top club to meet our valuation of him?

likely he feels our donkeys/style of play are making it too hard for him to showcase his talent:unsure:

I’m a little unsure why you and many others are so quick to dismiss perfectly plausible and so far what have turned out to be pretty accurate reports just because you don’t like them.

One to many a rumour and news story for me, he’s lost his shit.

He has simply made himself look stupid once more. He signed a contract, and should honour it, without repeatedly handing in transfer requests. He has only himself to blame for the attention he has brought on himself. Whet must his teammates think of his antics?

Stop playing silly buggers, and get on with the job you are paid for, Mr. Mahrez.

Why? What do you think will happen now?

The way the owners are they probably will just make him sit out his contract anyway if that's the case. Then what will he do? Doubt the big teams will want him after sulking for 2 years playing next to no football

Congratulations on actually posting something I wholeheartedly agree with

Riyad was so certain he was going to leave and the fact we didn't let him go showed his error of judgment. We really could've done without the ruckus yesterday, especially when we had a game to play.

Hard to feel bad for someone on 5.2m a year that just could've cost us europa league, who by the way we took from ligue 2. I bet he wouldn't sign a contract for minimum wage with a 65m release clause in the summer.

that's why they should fine him.

I think fining him is a terrible idea, it just further inflames the situation.

I can't see him being involved on Saturday so let him have the rest of the week off and clear his head and allow the club to smooth things over and reintegrate him to the squad. The next game is Man City so a great opportunity to do himself a lot of favours in an interview and show Pep and the Man City fans what they're missing.

If history has taught him anything then he needs to play like a world class player for the rest of the season to get his move. Downing tools again and there may be little interest.

What happens if he goes to Citeh in the Summer and then someone like Barca or Real want him in Jan?

Citeh will let them have him for mates rates of he really really really really really really really really really really really really really wants to go

It’s a difficult one really if he has refused to train and play for us then the harmony within the team structure is going to be compromised, is he being petulant because the owners have gone against their words or because of bad advice ?

Anyway his behaviour by going AWOL for a second time in less than a year is very worrying is he going to ruin his stature and respect at the club by throwing his toys out of his pram, but whilst he does wear the shirt I will cheer him on but like we’ve said before if he does want his big dream move he needs to let his skills do the talking and stop the sulking which will certainly go against him and future suitors but isn’t it better to move in the summer when teams freshen up and rebuild rather than go on a panic in January ?

Strange tho all this unsettling of Riyad is only happening a week before we play them and the last time we played them Riyad had a great game against them ?

Not fining him would be worse considering the lengths we have already gone to.
