Any agreement on release clauses or anything else for the summer needs to come with a deadline.

 

This summer the transfer window closes August 9th, so if we say £75m and any deal needs to be agreed by August 1st. Nothing agreed by 1st August and he stays a Leicester player.

It isn't worth the effort. He clearly wants to leave and it won't matter what we offer him. What really needs to happen now is for him and his agent to sit down with the club and discuss properly a way forward.

The agent should be saying to him get yourself back there play with 100% effort and let's move on from there.

Trouble is he's either a loose cannon over which his agent has no control or his agent is not giving him the best advice.

As we saw with Kante release clauses don't really work. In theory you buy a player for £5 mil and insert a release clause of £30 odd million.

But a players value can fluctuate from season to season. At the time Kante was arguably the best in the world at what he did and we sold him for less than his value.

If Mahrez continues to spit his dummy out who is going to meet his release clause if we add one in? Nobody is going to want to sign him the way he is acting. He is doing more damage to himself than Leicester by going incognito.

 

Leicester haven't done anything wrong here. He is our player, his valuation (£95 million is perfectly reasonable after the Neymar/Coutinho deals) hasn't been met so he stays with us, end of story.

Revisiting the contract and put in a release clause is better that letting mahrez case growing up to a FIFA  case 

 

Many of us have noticed that mahrez case is taking diverse paths (  the PFA has proposed to help n and others are asking to give all players release clause in any given new contract ) and it might fall in the hands of FIFA when scrutinizing the form of the renewal contract between mahrez and the club in 2016/2017 as to consider the next question ( is a verbal agreement has the power of a tacit agreement ? )  since mahrez is not known for any misconduct

Part of me thinks he has already trashed his value with his unprofessional conduct.

 

On the other hand, I remember thinking the same about Luis Suarez, and look where he ended up.

 

Personally I think we should have took the 65m and moved on. Now only time will tell if this will end well or not!

I can't see him playing for Leicester again, the first time fair enough, the players forgave him and he was back to his usual self playing wise, but to put in another transfer request a couple of days before the end of the window with Man City needing someone to replace Sane I'm sure the senior pros will be pi££ed of with him. Let him go on a free transfer but have a 90% sell on clause, if he stays it will only end in tears. Just my opinion

Totally agree, I honestly believe if Man City came in for him at the start of jan, he would have got his move.

 Did riyad or Man City honestly believe that we would let our best player go mid way through deadline day, with no time to replace him, hence the big price tag.

Mahrez would never be sold by his parent club if they were only to receive 10% of the transfer fee,
