Best 11 outside the top 6 - PL, 2017-2018 Season

Recommended Posts

Seen this elsewhere, but best XI this season, not including the top 6?

Mine would be:

--------------------------- Pope ------------------

Cedric -- Tarkowski -- Evans -- Bertrand

Mahrez -------------- Ndidi ----------- Zaha

Arnautovic -------- Murray -------- Vardy

Could have easily had Maguire in there over Evans though.

Evans above Maguire.lol

Other than that, it's pretty good, although I'd probably remove Murray too. So it would be Vardy and Arnautovic through the middle, with Zaha on the left and Mahrez on the right. Behind them I'd bring Shelvey in alongside Wilf.

Yeah that's fair. Although I'd hsve Maguire over Evans.

These are loads of knuckle dragging CSKA wannabes Palace fans out there who genuinly believe Zaha is better than Mahrez. Zaha isn't fit enough be in Mahrez shadow. Mahrez has gone missing since January and still has 11 goals and 9 assists. CSKA fans can only dream of having a player of such calibre.

Mahrez, Doucoure, Ndidi, Zaha

Gros

Vardy

There hasn’t been any stand out RB/LB’s tbh. Cedric and Bertrand have been poor this season.

Mee doesn't play left-back. He's been part of the best CB partnership at Burnley with Tarkowski.

Van Aanholt has been really decent for Crystal Palace. And Yedlin for Newcastle.

Yeah, but struggling to think of a LB that’s done well this season tbh. Chilwell gets a lot of stick but he’s been better than most Lb’s outside the top six!

There has Been some excellent FB play, but its a Position, that doesnt always produce dynamic performances,

or have Solid and still genuine quiet guys who just go about their job,and find little recognition, also often

taken for granted, when cleaning up ,and making great tackles...

Its just the nature of the beast,  they will always get beaten sometimes/eventually in the game,

iMO the New Generation blame culture looks for easy scapegoats, instead of even  looking towards

the notion of reality that, the attacking side just might have the More open advantage, when

consistently banging on the door,  openings are made,it is the simple  nature of football,

or GKS wouldnt be needed.

Continually picking  out errors and mistake as a fan means one aint

Looking at the Game as an whole...

Just my opinion..

Also Mee is miles better than Tarkowski. Hardly a coincident that both Keane and Tarkowski looked amazing next to Ben Mee. Would love to have had him back here.

I'll never forget that tackle against the QPR guy, forgotten his name but was the big I am.

I've seen a few pundits do these and not put Mahrez in. Tony Cascarino put Gudmonsson in for Burnley instead. His reasoning? They both have 8 assists, but he feels Gudmonsson was more consistent. No mention of Mahrez's 11 goals to his 2 lol

I know he's been shite since January, but he did more in the 2 months before that than most have done all season.
