So refreshing to see young English players combing like Madders, Gray and Chilwell

Has to be one of the most accurate Freudian slips ever... :)

Impressive debut considering it was at Old Trafford. Always wanting the ball and picking up clever positions in between the lines. Delivery wasn’t quite up to scratch last night but it will come and not have we got a player on our hands. So refreshing to see young English players combining like Madders, Gray and Chilwell

If they carry on like last night they can all help themselves into the England set up. Very encouraging!

I've been really impressed with his defensive effort so far this pre/season. When he sees a break he gets back and helps out. So unusual to see such a great creative player with such a great defensive workrate in our game today. I think he's going to be a superstar - and he's ours.

So far so good, would like to see him shoot on sight more from range though. This I'm sure will come as he lives a ripper but it could be the difference when we're heavy on possession against teams who are sitting back and we can't break them down.

They look like members of Westlife or some pop band from the early 2000s.

Chillie and Maddie can wear whatever they want. I love their bromance, and thought they were showing signs of a strong partnership on the field friday.

What is that collar on Chilwell, looks like a crappy knock off Leeds Utd shirt from the 80s

LOL they do indeed look like some of the local lads you'd see down at Highcross on a Sunday trying it on with some girls, only they are quite good at football and considerably richer than the Highcross regulars!

But in all honesty it's great that Maddison, Chilwell and Gray all seem to be friends as well as teammates. The best combination play of either side in the Man U game came between those three. It's impossible to compete with the Manchester clubs in terms of finance, but building a team spirit and team relationship can achieve success as this club knows only too well. Building a team of young but talented players who get old together is a great way to build a fantastic team instead of buying one. I know we don't like Spurs on this forum (rightly so!) but their manager did a great job in buying and developing good young players like Alli, Eriksen, Kane, etc and keeping them together. It didn't happen overnight, but over time they developed together to become a very good team. The only blot on their copybook is they have still to win a trophy but I personally am a big fan of developing a group of players over a few years to achieve success.

We won the title because we had a group of good players that played with one another for many years, always improving and adding the occasional signing to compliment like Kante. After winning it we spend a ton of money on more experienced players and we went backwards! So I think it's good that we are generally signing young players to hopefully build a team around. For me on Friday our best players were Maddison, Chilwell, Gray, Ricardo and Ndidi. Ricardo is the "oldest" of that bunch at 24!

The only bad thing is how old it makes you feel!

Good post.  To be honest, I know football is a results business and also that Puel seems to have less support in general than a lot of previous managers but in terms of the team "on paper" I cannot see why anyone would be anything other than excited.  As fans we always want young exciting players signed and, for some reason, a lot of fans prefer young English players so I can't see why anyone would be moaning at the minute as in terms of youth and potential I cannot remember a better squad.  X

I am ashamed even to admit this but if I remember correctly this was the first single (cassette) I actually went out and bought myself with my own money.  In my defence I was only 11 but that's probably not quite young enough to excuse my behaviour.  X

To be fair if you take away the noncy hats and the stupid dabs, handshakes and gestures young footballers do I can just about handle the odd yellow hoodie.

As an aside I remember meeting Ritchie De Laet once after a game when he first signed. He was driving back himself so had come away from the team bus and when he walked past us I asked him for a quick photo. He said sure but wanted to put his bags in the car first (had like a full on case) and he took off his Leicester training jacket whilst there and came back over with a tshirt with just a massive pair of tits on them. Standard. To this day, I'm convinced he did it for laugh.

Spend a fortune doing it and think they don't ? Too much money and not enough dress sense.
