Hard to judge, our rezzies versus theirs and you're not sure how much either side want to win it.

We a creative midfielder like Mahrez to get balls into Vardy! He's getting no service.

Shelvey to Vardy would have been interesting. This midfield today has nothing

Loftus Cheek why is he even in the England team?? The goalkeeper has ran more then him

I think it is half hearted from both sides, avoiding injury and just seeing the game through, like a friendly on a Wednesday before a big PL clash. So many changes from both teams

There have been the usual dramatic statements made about this squad being this and that and the fans then most excited since Euro 96 and Loftus Cheek being like Gazza etc etc.

We do look a happy squad, but so far we’ve beaten TUNISIA and PANAMA.

Lets just see how we play against the better sides before we go too OTT.

We all hope for great things, but Christ, as a nation we don’t half sink into the pits of doom or rise to the clouds so bloody quickly!

You'd think we'd have learned after an endless repetition of Deja Vu/Failed international tourneys in which the media built up unrealistic hopes. As you say, beating Tunisia and Panama with our best lineup proves nothing.

I hope I'm wrong but the signs for me are shaping up for Kane to end up as the only golden boot winner to have scored pretty much meaningless goals.

I find this hard to believe, the players on the field today should have a point to prove. They should be showing Southgate why they should be starting in the next round! Thing is everytime for England we play with 3 Vardy is isolated. Perhaps if we (lcfc) are going to do this will it be the same? If so quite worrying! Tbh it's not just about the midfield passing, I do think his runs and positional play has been a bit poor today.

Not sure why dier is captain would rather Cahill but suppose bit of a nothing game. Don’t really use vardy the way they should/could.  Delph looks decent. Only players can see playing next game from this team is Pickford and rose. A bit boring but was always going to be the case tonight

Tbf it’s only been 40 mins

But most people on here can judge a player on 40 minutes football and form an opinion :)

When you have a midfield of Delph dier and loftus cheek there is no chance of us creating a chance.

A midfield of Andy King, Matty James and Dean Hammond would offer more in creativity.

we can say the same with friendlies really it was never going to be played like a do or die match ... far too many changes from the starting 11, Belgium in the same boat

I'm so outraged at the thought of people saying that I've responded twice.

Same impact as England's most creative player in the last 50 years? That's an incredible thing to say if you're being serious.

Where is there some calm balance in British Society these days?

I think people are just desperate for an England player to really make an impact at this WC. There’s usually one who breaks into the team and makes a name for themselves (Gazza, Owen etc)

For whatever reason some people seem to think Loftus Cheek could be the man to do it this time but I’m not convinced.

Maybe it’s Kane this time. I’m not bothered who the hero is tbh as long as the team do well. Seems as a society we’re obsessed with having a hero or a scapegoat.
