I know, but even with his record there currently (no goals yet, albeit only 8 games according to Wiki), LCFC may be concerned that he's not making any impact/improvement still.

With the likes of Barnes and Gray stepping up (very similar age and also playing style) playing regular first-team matches for the club, it may well be that the club might start to believe that he won't make it at the club like these two have already done.

He won't get game time here until he performs elsewhere now, too many ahead of him. He needs a loan in our league system so we can start judging him.

I wouldn't call that freezing him out though. This loan is probably being seen as his last chance to show he has the potential to make it here.

We should always have sent him to the Championship, his pace and work rate would have gone down well at a load of second tier clubs in this country. He was playing second tier football in France, I doubt he'd be averse to it and refuse.

Sending him to Turkey was a pointless waste, just a way of saying we don't want you anymore, ditto Slimani.

It's like being sent to Coventry.

I was never overly Impressed with him, especially his decision making. Although it was his first season and that’s tough.

I think he he should be loaned out to a championship club - his wages won’t be so big - worth seeing if there is a player in there

All this young crap he is 24 in 6 months!!! Looked good against a average league one side and everyone jizzes over him, after that looked a million miles out of his depth and still does in the turkish league.

He's got 10 apps (9 starts, 1 sub) and 3 assists according to WhoScored. Sure I've seen a few tweets a while back saying he's done alright out there too.

I'm relaxed about what we do with Diabate. If he goes out on loan again and becomes a success here then great, but if not we paid about 1.5mil-2mil for him so we'll likely flip him for that or more if he does alright on loan. Think he's a live wire and very raw but a decent prospect. Agree with the shouts to have loaned him in the Championship if it was possible though.

Totally forgot about him tbh! Can't see him breaking in the squad next season. Not a bad player by any accounts, but not got the quality we need to aim for top 7. See him off and wish him well.

Diabate - what to do?

Pretty sure he was bought as a development player and thats what he is doing atm, developing. He may not have scored but from the limited information i can find he has had 3 assists in 9 games. (Would have been better for us in a Championship club came in for him - maybe they didnt? )

From the Turkish sites i was able to find a short write up of him, based on his last game .. some of the comments havent translated well but they are funny to read. On speaking to my Turkish friend he basically said that the fans feel he is good and doing a decent loan BUT he needs to get way better physically - especially if he wants to return to the EPL

Here is one of the site i mentioned above - It will translate in google if its showing Turkish version. https://eksisozluk.com/fousseni-diabate--5891606

The most interesting of comments is as follows:-

1) Technical capacity is a high player this young brother. I would say that it is quite adequate for the super league in particular. firstly, I look at the passages it gives, not the works it takes. Almost every ball he meets in the wing somehow manages to move the penalty area . He tries to break himself up with an effort, or tries to get his team-mates to meet with a rust or a middle.

2) dominate your wristsa friend. short distance, narrow area can throw. footballers who can do this are already players who make a difference in the field. Diabate's ankles so to speak velvetlike.

3) speed is not bad either. it can be more useful if it can be a little faster .

4) defensive aspect is weak. this may also be due to the fact that he played an attacking wait like douglas pereira dos santos behind him. Sivasspor'un right wing of the time can return to the highway.

5) physically weak . from time to time in the force of the players in front of the force to take the ball and I have found it difficult to return. need strengthening.

6) When I say the ball in the penalty area I mentioned in Article 1, the rust percentage and the quality of the ball, especially when it enters the wing or gets its ball in its semi-field, it is visibly falling. simple ball losses here. cannot adjust the rust severity in two. this can lead to unbalanced capture of the team at a time when attacking. Sivasspor'u especially in the press can burn.

Edit to add the funniest of the comments was 'Claimed to be on the radar of Liverpool'

He thankfully didnt cost us much and I can see we would at least get our money back. Its a shame really because after watching him against the might of Peterboro, I thought we had found the new Ronaldo. Unfortunately though, wingers have got a habit to give us highs and lows, mostly lows. Its one of those positions that is so difficult to get consistency out of. We arent alone, Walcott, Townsend, Gray, Lookman, Ibe, Redmond etc. There are literally hundreds of wingers who look like world beaters for a game and like dog turd for 5 and unfortunately, Diabete is one of those but a lower level version.

Scored a great goal against Beşiktaş yesterday, dusted off 2 players on the half way. 2 in 2 games for Sivasspor now, not worth writing off just yet

Those two defenders were shite. One just gave up and ran in one direction and the other ran in the other direction towards the goalline but Diabate did do well to finish from that position.

Now he has scored 2 goals in the Turkish league he most likely has a better scoring record over there than Slimani.

Think he’s on around 3 goals 5-6 assists in 12 games, not a bad return in a side without a great deal of quality

Sell.

Just out of interest, are you saying this BEFORE seeing his goal celebration. Completely worth keeping him for those abilities alone.

I love the little fella in many ways but he's expendable and right now we have young talented cover for this particular position. What we need right now is a replacement left back understudy if Fuchs isn't staying another year, we need cash for Tielemans and an understudy for his position plus a starting winger/forward/striker.

If selling Mendy means circa £8-10 million towards the above then he goes on the exit list along with the many others.

He got thrown in the deep end before he was ready and his confidence dropped. I think keep him and next season look to get him a loan to a top half Championship club and see where we go from there. We aren't going to get that much for him at this stage of his career, so it won't make that much difference to the rest of our dealings.

Mendy is gone for sure. I don't know if the club haven't offered him a new contract, or he's said he doesn't want to sign, but we aren't in a habit of letting people's contracts run down like this unless preparing for the player to move on.

Sorry Rach, I meant the reply to be in the Mendy thready not Diabate - I didn't manage to edit in time before you replied!

I hear you about Diabate - maybe loan him but right now he's deadwood like Ghezzal, and money in the bank is money in the bank to be spent on young talent with a future of competing in a squad for a top 6 team....

Ah that makes more sense!
