he got taller, lost some pace over the summer and just looks off to me. Should've taken the man city offer for 60m. Mahrez doesn't even look like he wants to be here at all.

I really don’t buy into the general consensus that our recruitment has been great in recent seasons.

This summer:

- We signed a RB who isn’t good enough defensively to play RB

- We signed 3 CB’s.. just why?

- Ghezzal :nigel:

From 17/18 the only real success is Maguire.

Agreed it hasn't been at all. Madders looks very good, but averaging 1 decent signing a season isn't good enough.

That’s scary when you put it like that. 1 good signing a season is tragic

Especially when we tend to lose one of our best players a year too. Kante, Drinkwater, Mahrez. Not to mention the ones that we are losing to age like Huth, Fuchs (Chilwell is like a new signing luckily) Morgan, sooner or later Vardy. We need 3 hits a year realistically to progress.

He's actually what I feared he would be, 26 years old so little room for improvement and no better than what we already had.

We have Iheanacho, Maddison, Gray, Albrighton, Diabate and Okazaki who could play behind in the three behind Vardy. Then there is Ricardo, Chilwell and Barnes who could fill in if need be. After being loosely linked with Leon Bailey and Malcolm I was hoping we'd sign top notch or not at all.

Signings like Ghezzal are the worst kind of signings for me. Too old to expect significant improvement but he's not good enough to improve us. He's not the worst player in the world like Musa was for us but adds next to nothing and under contract until he's 30.

Honestly probably would have been better keeping Musa who, on his World Cup form, looks more of a goal threat.

Watching him last night he just looks like he cant run. His body shape when running looks weird. I don't see anything that warrants him being in a premier league team unfortunately. Lets just hope that he can improve.

Ffs Ghezzal was on for 20 mins and was shite, Vardy was on for (almost 90 mins) and was shite and this thread is where all the talk is. Its time we realised that Vardy has been gash most of this season and yes he is a legend but nevertheless we need someone who's not terrible playing at the moment! Time to bench I think and give him that fire back to actually want to do the things which made him a legend here! Ghazzel is just todays scapegoat!

.. if I remember correctly, Puel asked him to not make the runs he usually makes which is effectively stifling his game and effectiveness.

This formation does not suit him...and it seems never will.

Not sure what the conversation was with Puel before he went off, but Puel was very guarded and dismissive when Stringer posed the question. The supposedly "liked" tweet by Rebekah Vardy does not help the situation.. an honest answer at the time by Puel could have put this matter to rest.

So disappointing they weren't prepared to show more faith and belief in Barnes.

Not saying this with the benefit of hindsight or the fact he is doing so well in the Championship but as you rightly say, Ghezzai is 26 years old with little room for improvement where as Barnes is only just turned 20 wit lots of potential for improvement....as was the case when they showed faith and stuck with Ben Chilwell while he was on a steep learning curve

Jesus you’re right! It’s horrific that Musa is better than our Mahrez ‘replacement’

I admit i never wanted him here and do poke some jokes but i always hope any player we sign comes through better in the end.

Its early on in his city career so will remain neutral and hope for the best.

But you know when you just know something isnt right? Thats how I feel about this guy. Sure we have seen his trips and passes to nobody videos but its almost as if you just knew where this was heading.  I usually will have more of a " give the lad a chance vibe" but at i am finding it hard to see him do well here.  I'm pretty sure he will have his moments and pop in a great pass, goal etc but it's just not an exciting prospect to me.

I will always man up if he ends up being class but my gut just says mehhh.

What i do want to say is that if this wasnt a panic buy then we have some serious problems in recruitment.

His biggest issue especially in PL where pace and speed on the ball is paramont as we all know, He is the most one-footed footballer i have ever seen. Considering hes a 'technical' mahrez-esk player with skill (cough), how come he cant use both feet... He was uneffective and woeful lastnight and with his age peaking soon.. where is room  for improvement? :/ confidence  in the team in general is high with great football, he clearly has something going on in signs of self confidence, I will give him a little more time to adjust but from what i  saw.. not too long.

To be fair though, this season he's had opportunities and he's not been as clinical and his first touch has been terrible. That's nothing to do with Puel.
