It's a bit of a myth on here it all went wrong because Kante left. We'd still have been absolutely rank that season because our preseason was so bad, everyone was unfit, our signings were shit and Ranieri fell out with everyone like he always does.

Kante was a major reason why we won the title but a lot was also down to Vardy and Mahrez - both being equally hard to replace imo.

 

I think that season would have gone the same way with Kante still here. I mean, where did Chelsea finish last season - not saying it's due to him but naturally it becomes harder to retain a trophy.

We might have finished higher in the league

 

We might have crashed out against Sevilla if Ranieri lasted a little longer because of that

 

We might equally have won the CL

 

We wouldn't have bought Mendy or Ndidi

 

You could imagine a million alternate realities...

Whilst he's a lovely guy the press are dealing with this incorrectly. 

 

He shouldn't be lauded for that. Paying tax is to be expected. Amazon and co should be demonised.

Agree with both above. We began the title defence by losing to Hull City.

I really don't think the lack of N'Golo Kante was the reason for that.

In an alternate universe he did stick around and we won back to back premier Leagues and got to the final of the Champions League and Vardy won the golden boot as Europe's top goalscorer.

It was a shame to leave straight after you win the EPL in a miracle season. I agree.

 

At least Mahrez stuck around.

 

And of course, Vardy, what a legend. He could have double his earnings elsewhere.

Yeah, but he lives and works in a world where the norm is tax avoidance. He actively chooses to pay tax correctly like the rest of us do, in the face of lots of little sneaky, legal ways of being a bit richer.

 

That is much more praiseworthy than big charitable donations in my book...

You can "what if" on a lot of things.

 

What if the owners didn't buy the club?

What if Vardy had actually quit football and couldn't be convinced by Pearson and shakey to keep going?

What if we sacked Pearson after our poor run in the first season in the prem? Or even when we lost in the playoffs?

What if Kante stayed?

What if I hadn't married my wife? You get the idea!

 

Best not to look back but forward on some things and just accept things happened for a reason at the time and move on.
