Maddison

He's played what, 18 games of top flight football? In those games he's looked one of our better players. He already looks a much better player than Gray who has played over 100 games for us now.

I think Maddison is doing just fine given his age and that it’s his first year in the Premier League where it’s much more difficult for attacking players to thrive.

What I find baffling is how someone with so much obvious technical footballing talent, especially striking a dead ball from free kicks and corners, can take two such pathetic penalty kicks.

bit harsh saying the cardiff penalty was pathetic???

If the keeper dives the wrong way it goes into the bottom corner with pace.. not as if he did a stutter like the last shite penno.

Agree. Every "$hit" penalty is inches away from being a good penalty.

*unless its a mahrez star chaser

Nah it was pathetic. It wouldn't been right in the corner either and there was no pace on it.

Penalty was terrible... not as if keeper had to fingertip it or be at full stretch...

After his penalty shocker a couple of weeks back, putting it the same side was poor in itself..

And whether Bamba was encroaching or not, Maddison flat footed and too laid back as usual on the follow up.

Bang straight down the middle it should have been...

It must have been the angle I was at sitting in the east stand. Looked a yard or so to the keepers right to me and a fairly comfy save. No need to stretch so assumed not bottom corner.

What I'm trying to say is, with his dead ball technique I’d be thinking Hazard style penalties that give keepers no chance.

Perhaps if we try to get the ball quicker to him he would be even more effective than he is now withou 8 defenders around.

Yeah, he's so crap, only creates 3 goal scoring opportunities per 90 minutes. Bested by the likes of (and only) Willian and Hazard.

Bin him. Clearly rubbish.

Interesting thing about this is that our next best player for chances created per 90 is Ghezzal... Make of that what you will.

You miss two penalties in a given season or calendar year. You lose the privilege of taking penalties for the team. Out of the 11 players in any team, there are at minimum four that can take excellent penalty shots.

For my part, he shouldn't take anymore.

Score goals from open play and don't rely on penalties and set plays to augment your stats....(Especially when you're iffy or 50-50 at best)..then by so doing deprive your team of much needed points!!!

Of course, I'm sure if Vardy is absent again , it will be Madisson to take the the next penalty.  Yet, Ricardo ..very Clinical from the spot, is right there in the team.

Just baffling. Even Iheanacho, who I doubt if he ever missed a penalty shot will be there next time and this same Madisson will step up to miss yet another one!

Must be some kind of Home Grown Privilege...for lack of a better insight to this strange Phenomenon!!!

Don't think Maddison ever missed one at Norwich, which is probably why he took them here. Norwich fans were suprised to hear he'd missed one.

Very small sample size though, it's why Iheanacho's G+A p90 always look good, impresses from the bench but doesn't play well when he starts.

I am new to foxestalk so this might have been covered in a previous thread so I apologise if so.

After watching him throughout the season so far, I feel he really isn’t as good as he thinks he is. He is very easy to mark out of a game playing in the 10 ( as Cardiff showed us at the weekend) and in my opinion needs to toughen up physically. He slows our attcking play down a lot of the time when we’re going forward and (in my opinion) if he could get physically stronger he would be better off playing deeper which would solve one of our creative midfield problems.

Well you've opened up a right can of worms here.

He's a very exciting young player with bags of ability and very quick feet and an eye for goal and a defence splitting pass.

His weakness is that in terms of the league he is inexperienced and young and he's not helped by that the fact that his football brain works around 100 times quicker than most of his team mates.

The most goalscoring opportunities created by an English player in the whole league. Shame we don't have the players to consistently put them away.

Vardy is starved of support and that we don't create enough further up the field.

The same Vardy who joint 4th in big chances missed, right?

Vardy is also joint 11th with sterling for most shots on target.

Vardy does little for the build-up of the play but it's always the fault of everyone but him.

If only Kelechi got the benefit of the doubt. But nah, he's "lazy".

Madison is quality and we should be building the team around the likes of him, I also like that bit of swagger he's got who has confidence in his own ability.

Look at footage of him at Norwich they moved the ball quickly on the floor into his feet. This is exactly what we need to do to get the best out of him move the ball into him early and let him work his magic rather than the slow build up shight.

Well yeah if you only quote half my post and change the context of it...

And yes, I will go there. Blue-collar English players are much more liked by the fans. You can convince me that Vardy did alot for the club and that’s why his bad games are forgotten. Fair enough.

But what did Maddison do exactly? That’s right.

And before any snowflake quote me to say, "you are right, it's racism". Don’t bother, because that is not what I'm trying to say.

If you are not english, you have 1 choice to be likeble. "Do your job, run a lot, smile and keep your mouth shut." That’s why Shinji and Kante are so likeble.

It's not about being black, it's about not living up to a working - class englishmen criteria . Mahrez, way before his transfer farce was disliked by many in here because he doesn't live-up to the stander of "a hard-working englishmen" or "a hard working non-englishmen who runs a lot and keeps his mouth shut".

I thought this for sometime now but I said "hey, maybe because you like Mahrez so much, you are starting to read too much into it". But here we are.

That’s what I think. I've said what I said with a clear mind. It's not about race, it's about what people think is a "proper professional footballer".

I can honestly say I loathe all of our players equally, regardless of the colour of their skin.

Seriously though, I'm amazed that Madders is in the firing line. Okay, he's taken two of the worst penalties in recent history but otherwise he's been a good signing. Not sure the problem is him thinking he's better that he is. More that some fans saw his YouTube vids and thought he was Pelè, and then get the hump when he doesn't score a worldy every week. For his first year in the top flight he's doing very well. He'll only get better too.

Him getting slated was predictable from the very minute we opted against signing another creative player, fella is 21 and we are having to rely on him and only him for creativity. He needs some help of course he's still gonna be inconsistent, which wouldn't be a problem if we brought in another creative player

Imagine this season without him....

Doesnt bare thinking about!

Absolutely this! All of our good attacking play either comes from him or more recently Ricardo. Chilwell gives us good attacking threat too but he needs to work on his final ball/crossing.

Ibora??

I would suggest him, then get slated from nationwide the forum, because he's simply not getting enough game time to support them...!!!

I myself had hoped, that Iborra, would be the player to take it on!!!!

Has so much potential but today shows we can win without him. Still a big learning curve and step up for him, hopefully this gives him the incentive to push on
