Maddison

I am new to foxestalk so this might have been covered in a previous thread so I apologise if so.

After watching him throughout the season so far, I feel he really isn’t as good as he thinks he is. He is very easy to mark out of a game playing in the 10 ( as Cardiff showed us at the weekend) and in my opinion needs to toughen up physically. He slows our attcking play down a lot of the time when we’re going forward and (in my opinion) if he could get physically stronger he would be better off playing deeper which would solve one of our creative midfield problems.

Just what we need. More anti-Maddison comments when in reality he’s been one of our best players this season. Just because he likes a few pictures on Instagram and posts a few videos on social media doesn’t mean he thinks he’s better than what he is.

He looks pretty decent to me. Bit young and naive at time but any fan with half a brain can see he is a quality player.

He can only play with what's around him also.

The guy is an outstanding talent. Needs a season to learn the game at the highest level, but is progressing very well.

Shame about his penalties, but he will get better.

I am more concerned about Ndidi, who seems to have fallen away from last season's level of performance. First touch is often poor and his shooting / accuracy woeful. Makes up for it with some good interceptions / tackling / althletiscism - but not the player he was - but again still young and learning.

I’m not saying he’s a bad player and I’m not anti- Maddison at all. He is young and will only improve I’m sure of that and will probably be a vital player for us in the next few seasons. I just think he would be a lot better playing next to mendy/ndidi and bringing a better creative passing ability from deeper than as the number 10.

What is actually wrong with some of you lot, he’s clearly incredibly talented.

A missed penalty and it’s suddenly the end of the world for you lot, bet if you had a cold you’d call in sick!

Was on of our better players against cardiff, created chances, won free kicks in dangerous areas and the penalty. If he had scored his penalty everyone and vardy everyone would be hailing him as the next messi.

Ultimately I think his undoing will be that he was given the keys to the car too young (which to me means he doesn't have the role model/someone who can actually show him what it takes), and frankly has no competition. I think some of the lazy passes, lack of pressing, etc. would be cleaned up if he felt he may face the drop. Team's still too thin, talent wise.

If he's dropped deeper, you can 100% put a bet on majority of fans saying he needs to be played further up as Vardy is starved of support and that we don't create enough further up the field.

He's a new boy,in his 1st season...part of his football education,is to mature,while also finding his feet at PL-level....

He's a top investment, who we should understand he's not the finished product!! I am bloody happy we could pick him up!!

Our misfortune,is that our 2 internationals from Portugal haven t realised the standard of PL-level,we wanted...

So..2 big buys that have not upped our quality

With that we have nobody in midfield with experience, who can support our 3 youngsters....Maddison,Ndidi,now Choudry!!!

Puel has no one to turn to,so the Young-guns have to carry the burden...that's what many fans don't understand.

We should support and encourage our youth, they are doing it the hardway,we have to rebuild in many positions...

partly having to use/trust  a very immature, inexperience group to slowly create that badly needed engine room...

this present bunch has a long way to go,I don't know if they can cut it,but we have no experience MRs that are good enough

to help to support and show them.....

We have found a good defence,no matter who we chose at CB or RB. Next season we willneed cover for LB,when Fuchs goes....!!!

Hey..we lost to Cardiff,it bloody hurts because we could of cemented that 7th place....but heyho, with all our so called worries...

we are 9th...We are far from consistent, but can produce surprising results.....

we have some entitled arrogant fans who for some odd reason, believe we should go against tradition, and automatically beat these

"lower ".  teams......funny innit...:crylaugh:

Are we letting the missed penalty decide that? He has adjusted to PL football really well and has been influential in most the games he has played.

I get the physical bit but that isn't really his game like it wasn't Mahrez's game. This boy is technically almost as good and for me fills an irreplaceable whole left by RM to a good standard.

His decision making and footballing brain is there and when he gets a better understanding with the players around him he will only get better. He will get numerous caps for England in the future.

Needs to sort his acne out too. 21 years old with a shedload of cheddar, with a whole team of professional sport dietitians working for & on him and he still looks like he eats Maccies pound menu doubles by the pound everyday

To be fair he's lived in Norwich and Coventry. That's gotta be bad for your complexion

This is really what we need. More negative topics about a player who has been one of the standout performers this season by a country mile. Think he has adapted very well to the Premier League game and at such a young age (like several other members of our squad) will continue to improve. I refuse to pin the Cardiff defeat squarely on his shoulders, nor should anyone allow him to be made the scapegoat.

But what do I know? He misses a penalty (via what was a half-decent stop by Etheridge and excellent last ditch tackle on the rebound by Bamba) and suddenly he's not all that, despite everything else he did in the game? Come on now, have a word with yourself.

Yeah, he's so crap, only creates 3 goal scoring opportunities per 90 minutes. Bested by the likes of (and only) Willian and Hazard.

Bin him. Clearly rubbish.

How do you know how highly he rates himself? Answers including celebrations, handshakes and social media will not be accepted.

Maybe he's actually not as good as we thought he was. All summer and after the first couple of games he was the player we'd all been crying out for, the missing piece in the puzzle. The truth is he's a young lad with an awful lot of talent but only half a season of experience at this level. Like Mahrez, he's capable of conjuring something from nothing but he's struggling under the burden of being our only true creative outlet. He's part of the solution, not part of the problem.

He gets marked out of games because teams see him as our talisman. He's our most creative player and our other attacking players aren't worth committing men to specifically mark out of a game.

Without Maddison we'd almost definitely be in the bottom half this season.

Wonder if he's strong enough or quick enough to be a really top player. Goes in and out if games quickly too.

Definitely one of our stronger players though.

Is it just me that don't only think he's good but has one of the best young players in premier league.

1 season in the prem we are half way through a season and the midfielder has 6 goals and 3 assists.

That's bloody good.

Think how much better he will be next season when he has fully adapted to the premier league.
