Julian's Crown Jewels Posted 19 January 2019 Posted 19 January 2019 Odd of Puel to play a 3 at home to Southampton and then 2 away at Wolves. I've not problem with them in a 3 with someone more creative, like Iborra or Madders deep but as a 2 it's a none starter. Negative and crap!
WoodyFox Posted 19 January 2019 Posted 19 January 2019 Adrien Silva deserves just as many chances as Mendy and N’didi have had. We’ve got a player who came off the back of winning Euro 2016 with his country and we’ve absolutely ruined him.
Foxxed Posted 19 January 2019 Posted 19 January 2019 Not sure why he didn't play Hamza. But then Ndidi is fantastic in the air and is more likely to score. Mendy gets around more and is a better and safer passer than Hamza. And Iborra was too slow and Silva too lightweight. Puel prefers to develop youngsters anyway.
PoshhFox Posted 19 January 2019 Posted 19 January 2019 Hamza is better than Ndidi at the moment - so on that logic pick hamza? Mendy is just pure shite

funkyrobot Posted 19 January 2019 Posted 19 January 2019 I’m pretty sure the only Leicester affiliated person who would stick with a Mendy Ndidi midfield combo is Claude. IMO we should stick with Ndidi and use Mendy as back up. The obsession with playing the two together will probably be a key factor in his increasingly inevitable sacking.
justfoxes Posted 19 January 2019 Posted 19 January 2019 Thought Mendy was a liability today a tackle away from a red card at times, also his distribution and giving the ball away today was dreadful would rather have seen Hamza today !
funkyrobot Posted 19 January 2019 Posted 19 January 2019 Mendy doesn’t pass well, he’s not a great tackler, gets knocked off the ball easily, lacks pace and he has absolutely no goal threat. Other than that he is a #baller.
fazzyfox Posted 19 January 2019 Posted 19 January 2019 I believe Ndidi usually has very good stats for tackles but like O'Neill used to say about Savage "Win it then give it to someone who can play" or words to that effect. Alongside a water carrier he's feeling obliged to attempt passes beyond his range, put him next to a better passer than Mendy and he'd be fine as a ball winner and physical presence.
Hanan96 Posted 19 January 2019 Posted 19 January 2019 While Mendy and Ndidi aren't creative enough, we didn't really have much choices. Silva keep struggling with pace of priemer league and losing his man. We know how slow Iborra are, and aside from long ball accuracy, not much he could offer than those two. Choudhury isn't playmaker at all. He isn't used to epl 2 midfield yet. Either he will keep out of position chasing enemy or dropping too deep like last season.
TheLittleBigMan Posted 19 January 2019 Posted 19 January 2019 I can remember a lot of fans slagging Silva off. Funny how we're missing him now he's probably gone. I was drooling at the prospect of a Silva, Iborra, Ndidi midfield.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 It isn't helping that they play virtually every game in the league. They both look a bit weary to me, and I guess they know it isn't working in most games, which drains confidence. CP does need to change something, but I guess we will be using a 3 for a bit, even though our options seem thin. There is no hiding place in a midfield 2, it is one the most physically demanding positions in football.
ForeverandEver Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 Hindsight is a wonderful thing. When Silva played he also didn’t look all that. We’ve never really replaced Drinkwater - A talker & orchestrator, having said that Ndidi’s stats reflect that he’s the 4th best tackler in the league miles ahead of Kante. Ndidi is only 22 & will be an awesome player next season. Mendy needs to be shown the Fire Exit.

I cant handle seeing them anymore. Mendy played one good game and everyone was ‘oh I knew there was a player in there all along’. He’s crap and between him and Puel, they’ve dragged Ndidi down to a level of performance that is simply unacceptable. Worst premier league “passing” midfilder pairing since Djemba-Djemba and Kleberson.
City1884 Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 Ndidi and Mendy are not a bad pairing in midfield, can no-one see that Puel does not get the best out of our players??? The idea of 4-2-3-1 is that there is a solid back 4, two defensive midfielders to break up play in midfield, and that then releases the front 4 the freedom to be a fluid attacking force? Any 2 of Ndidi, Mendy or Choudary are perfect for these roles, and Ndidi / Mendy started the season doing it really well, but they have regressed under Puel. As has Maguire, Gray, Maddison, the list goes on......... The whole team is now shot of confidence, anyone can see that. We need a manager who can get the most out of our players, they are not bad players, we actually have a strong first team line up! (We all know we need stronger back up in certain areas).

oadby.fox Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 Like others have said I am also sick of the sight of them as a midfield pairing. Ndidi seems to be getting worse with each passing week and I think he could benefit from a bit of a rest. I also don't think he is complimented by playing alongside Mendy who is an absolute crab of a player. I don't see how he has become undroppable as he seems to only be an average water-carrier at best. Overall, the team is so imbalanced and I think this contributes to our inability to defend or attack at times (depending on who we play/what system). We depend on width from the fullbacks so much so that they are often attempting the most amount of forward passes/crosses, meanwhile, the base of our midfield is so negative and can't pick a forward pass. Worse than that, Mendy has looked awful defensively the last few games as well and Ndidi not much better either. Carragher had a fair point prematch yesterday about the expectations at the club but what he and others don't realise is that it's the inconsistency and irrational choices that frustrate fans when it comes to Puel. That and his demeanour. Silva and Iborra deserved a run in the team, instead James and King start ahead of them. We play defensively at home to Southampton, go gung-ho against Wolves away and lose both as a result. Sometimes it's hard to really see what he is trying to build in terms of the footballing philosophy. A possession based team with fresh blood coming through sounds great but when you look at our results, the games we have more possession in we tend to lose and our best performances this season have come as a result of 'revert back to type' counter attacking. Plus if we do want to play more possssion based stuff then aren't Morgan and Mendy+Ndidi going to be a problem? How hasn't he identified this yet? Moreover, whilst he's giving chances to the youth (which is great) other more established young players have started to drop off (Maguire, Ndidi), Gray hasn't improved at all and Morgan is undroppable even when we have a talented young CB on the bench. Yet other players like Silva can't even make the bench. The numbers just don't always add up.

All well & good but these two clowns don’t offer any defensive protection, how many times yesterday were they caught ahead of the ball ? They can’t create or pass forward. Next time watch how many touches they take before passing it, it’s so slow & they can’t pass one touch ! Im willing to persevere with Ndidi as he has shown promise before, but Mendy really is the pits and needs binning, being bumped off the ball by Jota was the final straw, embarrassing !
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 Mendy has shown some good flashes but has never been good enough for us. Ndidi playing with Mendy makes him less effective, we need to try and recreate the chemistry that Drinkwater and Kante had, one attacking and one that just wins the ball back and gives it simple. We all know Ndidi can win the ball back effectively, we can't expect him to do what CP is trying to get him to do, he's not a box to box type player. This is what we need.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 Both offload to defenders instead of going forwards. Incredibly negative.

I know this is what defensive midfielders do but it seems every other clubs' defensive midfielders can do technical stuff to like shoot and actually pass forward. I have been disappointed with Ndidi this season. Mendy started well and impressed me but the last month or so he has been very poor too.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 Never known us to have so many centre midfielders, and yet we still haven't got a good partnership. My top to bottom of those here at the start of the season would go: Ndidi - still our best but has got worse since he arrived Mendy - tidy but doesn't pull up trees Hamza - future captain but needs introducing gradually imo Iborra - gone Silva - worst pound for pound signing in the history of the club King - my man, but he's gone James - abhorrent since his injury We won League 1 with 2 CMs all season, and went through 2 seasons in the Champ with King, Oakley and Wellens as the only options. How can we have so many options yet none are doing the business.
sylofox Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 Between these two and our back four I'm trying to work out if any come out with any credit yesterday. Perhaps Chilly just. When are we going to bin off this fecking stupid zonal marking. I hate to think how many goals it's cost us.
Lovejoy Posted 20 January 2019 Posted 20 January 2019 We will never challenge for a trophy or the European spots in the league with either of these players.
