Screw option B, Vardy needs a strike partner. Austin is decent at holding it up and bags a few goals. There are worse options out there.

I'd be very open to this. Austin had an excellent goalscoring record everywhere before Southampton and has been reasonable on the South Coast too. Different to our other striking options, knows the league and would be cheap enough. Only concern is injuries really.

As a "Plan B" I can't see this as a bad thing.  Up until his move to Southampton his goal scoring record was good by anyone's standards.  If the price was right would be a decent signing I think.

Agreed mate a solid strike partner with Vardy would probably be better than our plan A. Having said that if we were going down that route, i’d want us to sign someone better than Austin. 

 

I haven’t seen any evidence to suggest Maddison and Vardy work well together, their play styles don’t mix well and it leaves both of them isolated.

 

Long term, maybe Barnes could be a second striker similar to the Alli/Kane partnership (sorry for mentioning the spuds!).

Never been a huge fan of Austin, but unfortunately right now we need an option up front, that can give us something. Think Puel has lost faith in our strikers (Vardy excluded of course) offers a target in the box. I say, on loan, or cheap, couldnt hurt to give him a run out for us.

I'm certain we could do better if we look around, But then again he knows the league so that's a bonus.

I wouldn't see him as a long term solution but he could shake up our squad.

What worries me is his attitude and lack of work rate. If h's not scoring he'll be slaughtered on here.

 

I take Long in preference to Austin but he's probably worth a punt.

Should have signed him 2 1/2 years ago instead of having wasting money on Slimani.

Still could do a job with Vardy and instead of Vardy when injured or as a sub.Will always score and can still get on the end of a cross.

Would only take on loan, but he’s pretty strong in the air and can get on the end of a cross.

Always rated him, gives a different option to Vardy and might suit our sideways sideways sideways cross tactics when we are losing

A couple of years ago I would've been all for this but now I'm a bit meh. Injuries and the cost are obviously the main issues though, no doubting he is good for a few goals and would be different to what we've got.
