fox_favourite Posted 26 January 2019 Posted 26 January 2019 I'd take him. I think Austin and Vards will work well ( if Puel ever plays 2 up top). Both have come through the non league system, both have a similar mentality and both are a nuisance to defenders but in different ways. Also a much better option than we have at the moment with a plan B option.
AyewJoking Posted 26 January 2019 Posted 26 January 2019 As someone already posted, our options after vardy are shinji and nacho so an injury prone austin seems a valid signing. Gotta admit though, id rather give slimani a go than okazaki and iheanacho.
Foxalot Posted 26 January 2019 Posted 26 January 2019 I would have said yes in 2014, but he went elsewhere, and showed that he doesn’t belong in the Premier League. Pass
hamptonfox Posted 26 January 2019 Posted 26 January 2019 Love to have Charlie Austin at the club this week.
KingKoala Posted 26 January 2019 Posted 26 January 2019 No from me, I'd rather wait until summer to have more options to choose from.

If we're going spend money it's a bit of a waste on a bloke who has only played about 30 games in 3 years. Have we looked at Andy Carroll and Danial Sturridge as well? At 29 he's not going to get any fitter! I honestly don't see our owner's frittering their money away like that anymore. This is not football manager it's a business and he represents poor business.
City1884 Posted 27 January 2019 Posted 27 January 2019 Trust me, he isn’t coming here. He’s talking about regular first team football (ironic with his injury record!). We play one striker, with Vardy as first choice. Austin isn’t going to move here to do the same thing he is doing now, sit on the bench. People saying, he’s a decent plan B, well he doesn’t want to be a plan B. He’ll go to the championship, or at most a relegation threatened prem team where he’ll get starts.

He is already at a relegation threatened Prem club

My whole point is that in his head he wants to be starting, he doesn’t do that for Southampton, and he wouldn’t for us, so he won’t come here.
Bossman Blessed It Posted 27 January 2019 Posted 27 January 2019 His style of play guarantees a fairly tough afternoon for defenders; physical and aggressive. In all honesty, with the amount of crosses we aimlessly flump into the box, a focal point could be very handy. If any of that means that Vardy won't have to come up against a back four virtually by himself then I think it's worthwhile.

Superpants82 Posted 27 January 2019 Posted 27 January 2019 A few bits on twitter saying Austin going out is because they are in for Che Adams, makes sense. Also why hasn't Macia been confirmed as leaving by the club?
frany104 Posted 27 January 2019 Posted 27 January 2019 I’d take Austin. He’s a useful striker and pairing him with Vardy would make teams defensive plans change against us. They wouldn’t be able to just sit back and stop Vardy running in behind.
Fox85 Posted 27 January 2019 Posted 27 January 2019 Better than. Silimani. Okazaki. Iheanacho. So that get my vote sign him Asap.
Gazza M Posted 27 January 2019 Posted 27 January 2019 He would be worth it in a Tony Cottee or Kevin Phillips kind of way. I use those two as an example as his body is like a 35-40 year old!

chris_lcfc_85 Posted 31 January 2019 Posted 31 January 2019 I'd 100% sign him, sort of striker we need and the fee is nothing these days. Seeing so many games this season where we've been crying out for someone like him
