Attack of the defence

Given the fantastic form of Ricardo and Chilwell this season and the long term admiration of Maguire, is it possible 3 of our 4 back line will be subject to large transfer bids this summer?

Can't help but feel the 2 full backs are now no longer quietly going about there business without notice. Liverpool mates were raving about them, to be fair Robertson and Chilly arguably best LB's this season.

Same thing happened with Kante and Mahrez, suddenly media talking regularly about them. Kudos to the club for the work done with them this year ?

Nope. Top will likely order Rudkin to turn his phone off until the transfer deadline has passed. It also helps that the club only has the one fax machine, and it's broken. Failing that, we can turn the lights off at the King Power and pretend nobody is home until prospective suitors give up and skedaddle.

Imperative we keep players like that (Mainly Chiwell and Ricardo) as they fit the way we like to play so well. Given Ricardo only signed last summre it'll take a huge bid to prise him away. I'd like to think Chilwell will take a lot of persuading to move away from any club that wants him. And I reckon we'd stick a hefty price tag on him too.

Looking at the big 6 it could be Man Utd and Spurs who have the biggest need for them (United both, Spurs for Chilwell). I could see an offer of Danny Rose plus cash (a lot of) for Chilwell being made but not accepted. Man City should only be desirable for Chilwell if they make it clear they've given up patience with the injuries to Mendy. I'm sure United will build a new look defence in the summer and absolutely expect them to bid for Chilwell at least, it'll be interesting to compare him to Shaw on Sunday.

We’ve proven that we won’t be bullied with transfers, have no release clauses, and will only allow one integral player to leave per two windows. So even if we have to sell someone in the summer (my moneys on Maguire), it will be a huge fee and will then go back into the team.

Both Mahrez and Drinkwater have found the grass not to be so greener away from the KP.  If the Club remains ambitious (the new training facility is evidence to that) we have a better chance to hang on to many of our stars.  The future is bright right now and will be come brighter still once the squad is re-calibrated in the summer.  Rudkin will hopefully not repeat this dumb action of handing out sentimental contract extensions come June.

History show how hard it is for our star player to left

Kante only left because of release clause which none of our current star have

Drinkwater and Mahrez are 27++ years old player, on peak age, and going to be 30s soon so perfect age for seeking new challenge yet still need to awol to left our club

Our current stars, only maguire might likely left. Chilwell, Ndidi etc are all yet to reach 23. They will be more willing to stay considering their career still long.

Ricardo might be worrying as he's 26 soon but he got close relationship with our coach, hopefully this will give him another year, by that time we likely are team that routinely compete in Europe.

For this summer likely we lost 0-2 player which still reasonable number to replace, unlike last season when majority of our squad are declining soon, or already decline, which we need to replace at least 8, something can't be done in single year without disrupting team balance or cost tons of bucks

I think they'll both stay at bare minimum another year. Maguire might be another story if we get a bid in for him.

No way the club lets Chills or Ricardo go for at least another 18 months.  With so many young CBs in the pipeline I could see a Maguire sale, if they get a good enough bid.  They'll need to buy either Tielmans or a significant similar talent as a central MF and another striker - 55-60 million for Harry would go a long way.

All are on long, no release clause, contracts. If they go the club will demand huge fees. I can't see the club selling 3 at one time, and I'm sure if those three are happy here they will want to stay if they see the club developing and improving.

A lot depends on a manager too. If Puel went and a new guy comes in with a big spend approach, bringing in more established players, that might ruin the spirit of the younger players, especially if their game time is limited. It's another reason Puel must stay in my opinion.

It's all very well wanting to join big clubs, and I know money and prestige are big motivators, players should look at the bigger picture as we all know what's happened to the likes of Drinkwater, Lambert, and countless others who have wasted their careers thinking the grass in greener. Unfortunately there are agents brainwashing them the grass in greener.

I think I'd be worried about losing players for big money if we were one of those teams who then just put the money in the bank, but we're not. Every time we've sold someone the money has gone straight back into the squad. As long as our recruitment stays decent we'll be fine imo.

Full backs are priceless to us and Maguires stock is so high now. If any of them do go we’ll be extremely well positioned to buy excellent replacements. That said I’d be gutted to see any of them go. An incredible set of players to build our long term project around.

If the players want to go then they’ll go, a team offering champions league football and higher wages will always turn their heads despite the fact that they may not be first team regulars, anyone on here would be the same if you were in their shoes.

I'm more concerned about Morgan's potential 5 year contract extension.

We may get away with this as aparantly he's told the club 8yrs or nothing. Seems Rudkin is having to think about it.

Like a few have said, I think Maguire is the one the club will feel is most expendable, so of the 3 he is the most likely to leave without significant resistance being put up.

Critical we try and keep Ricardo and Chilwell. If we can then sort the midfield out by adding some more progressive players we should be looking good.

Wouldn't it be great if we could just build a team without losing our best player every year?

Have 3 or 4 seasons to build then we could challenge the bigger teams.

It's just natural for a club our size though. Top 6 clubs can offer much more than we can - in terms of winning things and consistently playing in Europe.

And it's the exact same for these top 6 clubs' players going to Real Madrid or Barca who get any player they want because they're the biggest clubs in the World. Look at Suarez/Ronaldo/Michel Owen... all moved to sides bigger than where they were.

Pretty convinced Harry Maguire will be off in the summer. The evidence is all there really with the amount of investment we have made into young CBs. I was feeling ok about that until the match this week when he was back to his best.

Ricardo will be a tough one to hold onto, but if Puel stays, there could be a sense of loyalty there seeing he was the one who brought him over. Ben I think is having the time of his life right now and I don't see him pushing for a move.
