Big Sam really wants the gig here doesn’t he !

Thats all i kept thinking while reading it. Remember him flattering us when last vacancy came up. Either that or just likes us.

For me, if Brendan can win the F.A cup for us I'll die a happy man. That is all I ask of him.

Thats the one my Dad wants having narrowly missed out on it. So i want us to win that too :)

I enjoy making fun of Tottenham as much as the next person, but I would love to be like them. Regular CL football, world class striker and incredibly highly rated midfielders. Who exactly wouldn't want this?

All well and good and they play some football.... but they dont win anything. If they won a cup itd be something.

Neither did the fans.

22 or so thousand at home in a quarter final at £10 maybe even £12 a ticket?

No one can moan when we have a piss poor turn out like that. It's simple really.

probably read the tweet from Sean as to the squad Puel was putting out! :D

Fairly simple approach  needed here - let BR experiment, treat the remainder of this season as an early extension of the 19/20 pre-season and maintain realistic expectations.

I think that is wrong to say that it was Puel that had no interest in cups, under Brendan it's all about the cups for me.

No, what's wrong is saying Puel had no interest in cups.

I appreciate Big Sam's remarks about Tottenham, but if I could pick a model club for Leicester to follow it would be Atlético Madrid. They don't have the money/talent of Real or Barcelona but compete at the top of the table thru fighting spirit and being defensively solid. They are a counterattacking team but can hold onto the ball and kill off a game when they are ahead (they even tried to buy Vardy last summer). I hoped we'd go this way under Puel but oh well.

Would help if we had 17 shite la liga sides to play against

Yeah I’m not sure they did try and sign Vardy

To progress we need stable management.  To build and build.  We have  a lot of good stuff in place... rogers has an intray and must address things in a viable order.  If he does this then inch by inch we can rise...

Wow I'm reminded of the famous first line of Kipling's poem If.

We've just replaced out manager, loads of people are getting carried away, the media are talking about a 200 million war chest this summer. Some need a dose of realism.

I'm not saying we couldn't break into the top 6 on some occassions but to be a regular member of the top 6 would require such serious investment that is way beyond a club of our size. The more relevant question is whether over time the top 6 can become a top 7 or 8 with the 7th and 8th placed teams maybe sometimes finishing 6th or at least being a lot closer in terms of points.

Of course no one knows the effects of Brexit on football but we can expect the top sides to come calling for any of our best players at any time. We may reject them once or twice but eventually they will be sold if the player wants to leave. There is the chance that young British players will become even more sought after after Brexit. Whilst this might put us in a good position financially it would put our squad under closer scrutiny given the admirable number of Uk players we have in it.

One of the best strikers in the world, probably the best centre halves in the world, Spanish internationals across the midfield, one of the best coaches on the planet, play in front of 67,000 at their new gaff, 55,000 in the old one, ten league titles make them Spain's third most successful club of all time, play in the world's top rated league in the nation's capital.

I think we're better off aiming to be Spurs somehow.

Football fans can't expect all chairman/owners to throw out money just to please their own egoistic souls!!!!

Levy also has to balance the idea of keeping them close to top 4,while holding finances in check...!!

Fans saying he should throw out £50 mil here,18mil twice there!!! Really have no idea, what clubs spending power is!!!

It is not the fans money...not even with STs.

Pochitino, when losing always makes a sad figure....especially from Febuary run ins!! But it is his squad and like it or not,are at the moment

even if they lose Poch, are in a better all round position than us as a club!!!  Pochitino  does just not have that extra quality available to

Keep a strong run in towards season end....neither do Arsenal ,Chelsea and maybe Manutd, spite their present fine form!!!

we can laugh, but our team, not just manager chasing top 7-8 has found it a task too far!!!  Stones in glass houses over last 3 seasons!!!

A Spurs fan,once called us nobodies,well he soon had a bakery-full delivery of humble-pie......

Since our title....many of our fans ,not all have shown their faces at the same Bakery,on expectations. A certain % was due to him being the

Tour leader, but also even now some will have Rodgers incorrectly expecting him breaking all bounds in the coming season!!!

You make interesting points, but I'm still convinced Levy is, and has cost Spuds trophies.

Of course it is a chairman's responsibly to ensure their club is run properly. Financially it is important a club doesn't drag itself into huge debt, but as I see it, that is exactly what Levy is doing at Spuds.

Huge borrowing for their new stadium could put Spuds back years. As I said in my first post on this thread (page 2), the very best players do not want to end their careers by saying 'we played in a great stadium'. They want to end it by saying 'we won a league title, a cup', etc, etc.

I think the way Levy is running Spuds is dangerous. I'm not sure how you can say if they lose Ponch and top players they are in a better position than us as a club?  If Ponch and top players leave, it will mean Levy will have to invest huge sums into the club to replace them, and as we know a new manager can throw money down the drain on poor transfers. This brings even more debt.

Levy would have been far better investing in the squad at this stage, increasing the squad depth, and paying going rates rather than the strict pay code he imposes. With a stronger squad, and by winning a few trophies, it helps keep and attract better players, and you build from there, rather than put all the eggs into one basket with a very expensive stadium.

The new stadium could be a huge millstone around their necks. It certainly has Arsenal.

I much prefer the model we have here. A chairman who is building, not throwing everything into just one project and keeping fingers crossed.

And I think this is the difference between us and them.

Fair dues!!!

But let's see how it pans out for Levy and his Club Spurs.

Will levy be there in a few years time. Can Spurs carry his loss....if!I

I always seen Gunners & Spurs ran by clans, with a couple of fanciful but proven business men taking the flak..Which being in London allows!!!

This stadium investment could fall into a white Elephant category...but somehow whatever happens I see them carrying it.

their next 5 years will be a challenge, you are right..but hey ho this club,is a long way from opening the distress-flair box...

Have you seen Spurs results when Kane plays?

I don't really follow there results that closely, but I saw him put four past us when they caned us 6-1. I just think to have a realistic chance of being in the top four you need a world class striker.
