Leicestershire Live - a rumour machine?

Recommended Posts

Im situated in Denmark and partly rely on info on City from FT or "Newsnow Leicester City". It has struck me a couple of times that "Leicestershire live" seems to be putting out one rumour story after the other.

First Kasper is definitely leaving. Now Maguire is swopping for MUFC and quite a few other rumours. Is this part of the Leicester Mecury or someone just fuelling rumours to create interest and unsettle the squad?

Just curious....

Regarding the website itself, overall, it's frustrating to navigate on with the number of adverts places on them ruining the quality of the content as a reader. It's annoying to say the least, but suppose it's what you see is what you get when the content is free to access.

Modern local journalism has been on a steep decline for years. The Mercury has gone from being a good read written by knowledgeable hacks that could relay a story which Leicester folk could relate to, to poorly written, poorly edited speculation of both mainstream & local news & sport.

Bring back Fred Leicester.

It's a shame really, I want to support the Merc as a local paper and they do write some good stuff at times. However, it's a chore to navigate their site and an awful lot of their stuff is click bait/quick articles -eg. The latest thing Chris Sutton has said about us.

They get a lot of their rumours off here as we're often first to publish them.

They also get ideas for articles.

Like the piece yesterday of people's comments on here about Maguire to utd.

But is some of the dross on LL due to the fact the club release very little.

If you want to support it, buy the paper. If more people did that then they wouldn't need to put so much time into driving clicks online to impress advertisers. Plus, the stories in the paper tend to be better than some of the clickbait served up on the site.

But even some local newsagents in the city are not selling them now..

You should realse that all newspapers, both local rags and national ones need to make speculative headlines in an attempt to keep dwindling circulation figures up. Best advice is; don't believe all you read.
