TheStig Posted 22 March 2019 Posted 22 March 2019 Im situated in Denmark and partly rely on info on City from FT or "Newsnow Leicester City". It has struck me a couple of times that "Leicestershire live" seems to be putting out one rumour story after the other. First Kasper is definitely leaving. Now Maguire is swopping for MUFC and quite a few other rumours. Is this part of the Leicester Mecury or someone just fuelling rumours to create interest and unsettle the squad? Just curious....

Wymsey Posted 22 March 2019 Posted 22 March 2019 Regarding the website itself, overall, it's frustrating to navigate on with the number of adverts places on them ruining the quality of the content as a reader. It's annoying to say the least, but suppose it's what you see is what you get when the content is free to access.
Babylon Posted 22 March 2019 Posted 22 March 2019 The mercury is trash and it's even dragged Tanner into it retweeting absolute dross.

Dames Posted 22 March 2019 Posted 22 March 2019 The Mercury site has been nothing but clickbait for a good few years now. I'd say Sean from Enderby is a more reliable source of information than the Merc.
brucey Posted 22 March 2019 Posted 22 March 2019 They make it clear they are quoting reports from other places which may or may not be true. I don't see the issue with that. Much better than some clubs who publish transfer rumours on their official site...
HybridFox Posted 22 March 2019 Posted 22 March 2019 Their app is a lot better to navigate as there are no ads popping out all over the place. But I agree there are a lot of clickbait articles with minimal substance and when no news, they start a poll of greatest moments of "X" player/era. Sad really
davieG Posted 22 March 2019 Posted 22 March 2019 They get a lot of their rumours off here as we're often first to publish them. They also get ideas for articles.
boots60 Posted 22 March 2019 Posted 22 March 2019 Modern local journalism has been on a steep decline for years. The Mercury has gone from being a good read written by knowledgeable hacks that could relay a story which Leicester folk could relate to, to poorly written, poorly edited speculation of both mainstream & local news & sport. Bring back Fred Leicester.
Poznan34 Posted 22 March 2019 Posted 22 March 2019 It's a shame really, I want to support the Merc as a local paper and they do write some good stuff at times. However, it's a chore to navigate their site and an awful lot of their stuff is click bait/quick articles -eg. The latest thing Chris Sutton has said about us.

TheLittleBigMan Posted 23 March 2019 Posted 23 March 2019 Can't stand the website. Nothing worse than clicking on an article only to have a video shoved in your face about something completely different. I'm off to the "what grinds my gears thread".
PhillippaT Posted 23 March 2019 Posted 23 March 2019 Unfortunately, it's my main source of keeping up with what's happening up there in Lester, (along with here), so I'll be expecting half the squad to be sold off over the summer, then
mozartfox Posted 23 March 2019 Posted 23 March 2019 I see the Daily Star is carrying an article about Maddison today quoting our old mate Paul Slurson. No doubt the Mockery will clone this later.

Like the piece yesterday of people's comments on here about Maguire to utd. But is some of the dross on LL due to the fact the club release very little.

If you want to support it, buy the paper. If more people did that then they wouldn't need to put so much time into driving clicks online to impress advertisers. Plus, the stories in the paper tend to be better than some of the clickbait served up on the site.

You should realse that all newspapers, both local rags and national ones need to make speculative headlines in an attempt to keep dwindling circulation figures up. Best advice is; don't believe all you read.
