SemperEadem Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 What are folks thoughts on this and the other banners for the Thai King yesterday?
promised land Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 Does it really matter? Did it affect you in some way then snowflake? Unlike this country they worship their monarch hence where the King Power name came from.
Nick Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 Can we keep our title of royalty please? Any chance you could let us know what our competitors have bid for the airport duty free contracts?

I think theres an interesting narrative to discuss regarding the family relationship moving forward in a changing Thai landscape.

I simply asked why it matters, they can put what they want up on the screens and boards around the pitch, my focus was on that bit of green stuff in the middle with 22 men chasing a bag of wind.
Rusko187 Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 Honestly, I don't mind. I respect how much the owners have contributed to this club so if this is a small price to pay I'm fine with that.

Calling people a snowflake?
CosbehFox Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 Thought it was bullshit tbh. Where possible, politics shouldn’t be imposed on people at football

Voll Blau Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 Doesn't sit right with me, whether it's the Thai monarch or our own. LCFC shouldn't be used as a political vehicle.
StanSP Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 Don't mind, at all. Really shouldn't worry others so much, either, in the grand scheme of things. Given all that Vichai/Top and his family/business have given to us and what they've been through themselves, a short message during a football game (at half-time, nonetheless!) paying homage to someone very important in their eyes shouldn't be the biggest of someone's problems at all. If it bothers you so much I think perhaps you need to be asking yourself some more serious questions.

We have Thai Owners (Brilliant Owners) so they say what they want in their stadium providing it is not detrimental to the Club, it's Fans or the UK.

Given where we are as a club since Vichai took over (and now Top succeeding him) I don't think people need to get worked up by one message on the last game of the season to a monarchy with historically close connections to the family. Perhaps it's our own political views / views of monarchies we need to put aside and allow them this personal message. We are very lucky they chose to come to this club, and for the continued great memories their contribution is creating.
Fox92 Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 I didn't like it. He's got nothing to do with the football club.
Guest Kopfkino Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 Literally no idea how people can get precious about these things
Izzy Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 We had condolences to King Bumiboil going around the advertising hoardings for about 6 months if I recall. If it makes Top happy, that’s alright with me...
Poznan34 Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 Sheffield Wednesday did a ceremony thing before their game last week
CosbehFox Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 Just clarify the reason it doesn’t hold particularly well is that the current political situation in Thailand is very, very merky. Bordering dictatorship
Guest Manini Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 Probably trying to keep in favour with the royals over there. If that helps give Top a leg up, it can only be good for us can’t it?

The owners have been so good to us and should be afforded some leeway on matters however I feel this is a little too much to use the club as a platform in this manner.
lgfualol Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 Bit weird, but KP have to lick the monarch's arses in order to stay rich and whatnot.
CosbehFox Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 11 minutes ago, Kopfkino said: Literally no idea how people can get precious about these things Because the current situation in Thailand isn’t pretty. Media is censored, elections are considered rigged (there wasn’t a democratic election for 8 years) and you are not allowed to criticise the monarchy in any way. It’s not pretty. I don’t want my club being used as a vehicle for this.
stripeyfox Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 I don't particularly see the relevance to announce this at a football match, but I guess if it is important to our owners then we should respect that. Not a problem to me
Foxxed Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 All our money is ultimately coursey of Thai politics. Thai politics involves sucking up to the king.
GeorgeTheFox Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 I'd rather be owned by billionaires who stand by their countries morals and what they believe in than billionaires who represent oil money and basically slavery. I'm sure they've done some shady shit in their business dealings but as billionaires go I'm proud that they represent us
