Wymsey Posted 20 August 2019 Posted 20 August 2019 Surprised no one has mentioned Mohamed Salah. A very good grafter and gifted, but also he seems charitable and diligent in general.
Tielemans63 Posted 20 August 2019 Posted 20 August 2019 Unfortunately he plays for Spurs but Son Heung Min is a brilliant footballer.
Stuntman_Mike Posted 21 August 2019 Posted 21 August 2019 Kante - needs no explanation. Milner - reliable, versatile, hard working. Totti - that family quote when he had the option to go Madrid. Mata - the wages charity set up. Kompany - leader, honest, just seems a likable guy. De Bryune - just comes across very well and a joy to watch. Messi - GOAT. Ronaldo - to perform at that level for that long is admirable. **Andy King -
Tielemans63 Posted 24 August 2019 Posted 24 August 2019 Obviously he's a long time retired but Xabi Alonso is probably my favourite non-Leicester player ever. If I could play like anyone it would be Alonso. Awesome footballer.
Corky Posted 24 August 2019 Posted 24 August 2019 Billy Sharp- fantastic Football League player who deserves his chance in the Premier League and an inspirational story. David Silva- Joy to watch. Teemu Pukki- Incredible year and what a start to Premier League life.

Peter Crouch seems a nice self-deprecating bloke too and Vincent Kompany always seemed a man of principle. Otherwise very few names come to mind, they seem to be mainly self-serving bar stewards! Kane the person seems nice enough, but the player, I just can't respect that attitude he seems to have of personal goals above all else. The swearing on his kids life to claim that goal showed him in a really bad light, and most interviews which talk about targets all seem to mention golden boots and premier league records, not actually winning trophies.
HappyHamza Posted 24 August 2019 Posted 24 August 2019 Guendouzi and Fellaini for making Happy Hamza look seriously cool in comparison.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 26 August 2019 Posted 26 August 2019 For me, it’s goalscorers and how they celebrate. Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Ian Wright (Jesus, I sound like a secret Gunner) and even Shearer (I’ve not forgiven him for stamping on Lenny) ...I liked how they generally celebrated their goals. Not OTT, just a nice celebration. I detest it when the whole hole team goes into boy-band mode and they do a choreographed dance. Fvck off!!! Still adore Kante though.

Parafox Posted 26 August 2019 Posted 26 August 2019 I agree, Denis Bergkamp. An incredibly skilled and clever footballer but unassuming, humble, down to earth despite his obvious talent that others with bigger egos would be all the peacock about. That and the way he could lead and inspire others.

I don't think it's disrespectful to progress your career and leave for a better/bigger organisation, be it football or commerce or industry, whatever. Most people want to be the best they can in their field of expertise. Do you think Lineker, Alan Clarke, Alan Smith, Harry Mc, Drinkwater, etc, were disrespectful to us when they got the chance to move on up? It's a fact that the skilled players will attract the attention of "bigger, richer" clubs than ours and there will always be the cream rising to the top. Happens at every level at every club. Man C, Liverpool, ManU lose players to clubs like Uve, Barca, Bayern, PSG. It's called ambition. Drinkwater might be an exception. I think he was mercenary, knowing that he'd be paid a fortune and spend most of his Chelsea career on the golf course.
Unabomber Posted 26 August 2019 Posted 26 August 2019 Used to love watching Craig Bellamy. Seems good on tv too whenever I’ve seen him.
Bayfox Posted 26 August 2019 Posted 26 August 2019 Kingy. How can you not, don't care what anyone says, he's been key to what the club has gone through, off the pitch anyway, kasper and wes say the same. I'd chuck kasper into that bracket as well. Whilst on lcfc players, bruno berner and pontus seem very level headed and do some good stuff reporting wise etc, or at least used to, Fuchs would be a good shout too. Away from our club, messi, xavi, iniesta also although hes not great on tv kluivert is always someone I respected. Original Ronaldo, he went through a hell of a lot injury wise etc yet battled back to top score and win a world cup. And was a dream to watch. Batistuta, signori, must be a channel 4 thing In the PL currently I guess I'm a little tribal so I find it hard to warm to players, i admire de gea but boy is he going through a patch right now. Other than that maybe Aguero.

We wrote a release clause in to his contract, Chelsea paid it, they offered him a contract and he took it, i don’t see any issue with that. Anyway - Milner, model pro, never in the papers etc. Seems like a good laugh too. Gerrard/Lampard - great pros and loved watching both play. Sterling. I can’t believe he’s the same age as me he speaks like a wise old bloke. I have a lot of respect for him. Joe Cole - probably my favourite ever non-Leicester player. Crouchy - seems like a top bloke. Ian Wright - see above, although slightly eccentric at times. Drogba - machine.

SystonFox Posted 30 August 2019 Posted 30 August 2019 Why do people respect Harry Kane what’s gone on here? He swore on his kids life he did get a touch on an Eriksen cross that went in but he didn’t touch it at all. Fraudster. hes the type of bloke who’d steal your last two hobnobs
CosbehFox Posted 31 August 2019 Posted 31 August 2019 Throw in most of Atleti’s players in the last ten years
TheHitman™ Posted 31 August 2019 Posted 31 August 2019 Pogba. I know I'm gonna get haters but he is one of the most misunderstood players in world football. If you actually look at some of his interviews then it would be a different look.
Donk Posted 1 September 2019 Posted 1 September 2019 There are many players i admire and for very differing reasons. You could look at players who are just supremely talented. De Bruyne, Messi, Ronaldo etc etc. But thats very obvious. Id have the next category of players who have overcome a form of adversity to have a great career or make a real difference at their club Examples of that would be henrik larsson after a serious injury, stuart pearce for overcoming injury and mental heartache internationally, santi cazorla, etc and others in this category. I then admire players who arent necessarily the BEST, but theyre the best they can BE with the talent they have. Professional, willing to help the cause and set good examples. If you look just at the Premier League, but there are many others around europe, this group would extend to the likes of James Milner, Troy Deeney, Mark Noble, even for me down to the likes of Andros Townsend, Steve Cook, Mark Albrighton etc. Youd not describe them as supremely talented but all capable of delivering consistent performances. There are other categories but this is my general idea
Stadt Posted 2 September 2019 Posted 2 September 2019 Never used to like Henderson but he’s grown on me, good captain and gets the best out of his ability.
