No political discussion in this topic. That is complaining about a country, a politician, a party and/or its voters, etc

Could they not have matched the data range? What a weird way to present it. They've got completely different scales, starting at different points, one in chunks of 10 years the other in some randomly picked age range.

Spoken like a true Excel spreadsheet boffin :D

They need to just shut everything down now. Schools, universities, football matches etc.

The virus had a 10-27 day incubation period.

The cases we're hearing about today began potentially up to a month ago.

We can see from Italy where we're heading if we don't take action ASAP.

The government waited too long. It took Boris until Monday to hold a cobra meeting to agree a containment plan but within 3 days of that it was admitted that we've moved beyond containment to delay.

I'm concerned that most people are under the false illusion that it'll all be fine to just carry on. The amount of people I've watched coughing all over the place in the last couple of days, people are just so ignorant of reality.

We need to move ahead of the curve rather than waiting for the curve before steering.

Really don't understand your viewpoint sometimes.

You can spend months on end telling us we have to listen to experts and then on this biggest health issue we've had for years think the government should then just completely ignore the chief medical officer.

This needs urgent action

Wtf. Anyone else expecting the doctor leading the efforts on finding a vaccine to actually be in a lab instead of prancing around on TV?

Get back to work dickhead.

Yep it’s scary - but I’m not going to be relying on the truth being told to me by the bloke who owns a private company who wants investment and profit from his team developing a vaccine!

That’d be like walking into a garage and saying here’s my car, can you keep the cost of the MOT and service to less than £3500 as it’s all I’ve got to spend. Certainly Sir, that’ll be £3499 please.

FFS Boris if you are going to show the public how to wash your hands properly do it right.

Wet your hands before applying hand wash, it's not fcuking difficult.

You have seen his hair haven’t you? He’s clearly not a capable human.

Even I’m getting worried now ...   we have about 170 odd cases of this evil thing out of a population of nearly 70 million !!   With the country still reeling from the brexit bug which infected all old people and made them vote to come out of the 4th Reich this could be the tipping point.  We were very lucky last time with the millennium bug but this could be more serious !!   For those on here (and there’s probably quite a lot) who weren’t born when that happened I’ll briefly fill you in ...   at midnight on the last day of 1900’s everything stopped working ...  my mate still likes to tell his story of how he was on a flight to the UK from Australia and at midnight the plane just dropped out the sky somewhere over Turkey ...  luckily he had the presence of mind to grab hold of a really fat stewardess and she cushioned his fall ...  he then had to walk back as all cars and trains had packed up as well.

Come on please let the light shine on the truth we are all so twisted by agendas that we can’t see the facts that this virus is deadly and will kill millions unless we can develop a herd barrier to its spread

I’m not sure a hard barrier is realistic or possible or that it will make a difference now. I think it’s best we all just start taking a multivitamin and getting on with catching it and getting over it or dying!

I’m ashamed to admit it but we are stockpiling like many others ...  Mrs CF has just got back with another trailer load of bog rolls and I’m about to put them in the shelter I’ve built at the bottom of the garden out of old mosquito nets.   Toilet rolls have many uses ...   you can fluff up a big pile of them and make a bed, stack a few up and make a fire, if food is low you can also eat them (although the calorific value is quite low) ....   and don’t forget you can also use them to wipe your arse !!! ...

It is alright washing your hands but money hardly ever gets washed and this bug can last on an uncleaned surface for quite a few days, one mail man gets it and he will infect everyone he posts to, many old dears will see Mr postie not realising he is the angel of death come a calling .

Bet Sunlife and other assurance companies like them are crapping it right now.

My advice is to all stay calm ...     last night in the pub a young girl took out her hawayee mobile phone which was immediately spotted by someone else and all hell broke loose !! ...  pint pots and chairs flying everywhere as people stampeded to the exits ...   I managed to help the girl out but cleverly wrapped bar towels round my hands to avoid contact.   Someone had obviously called 999 as when I left a truck pulled up with armed cops onboard all dressed in those biological HSBC suits ..  :o     I fear this type of overreaction may get worse ...

You should sell tickets to it. The amount of hysteria around you could make millions and be ready for post-apocalypse.

It’s worth noting that the graph on the right is purely on age and not on whether there were pre existing health issues. Including pre existing health issues would bring those percentages right down, to the point of healthy under 60s would generally have nothing to worry about.

The worry is - we all have relatives or friends who are at risk of this thing and we should be doing everything we can to stop it’s spread. At the moment just wash your hands and practise good hygiene like you should every day of the year.

If you touch money you should then wash your hands. The advice is to stop touching your own face too (which is probably the most difficult thing I’ve ever tried to do!) so if you’re touching money, just don’t touch your face until you’ve washed your hands.

We should all take comfort from the fact that this is nature’s way of ‘resetting the balance’ ...   it is only the same as when the dinosaurs were wiped out in a similar fashion all those years ago.   A spaceship from a distant galaxy crashed into the earth leaving a giant crater ...  many believe it was the horrible slimey slug like aliens on board that killed the dinosaurs with theIr exterminating weapons ...  but it wasn’t !!!!  ...  unfortunately for the aliens the things they travelled around in could only move on flat surfaces so the actually couldn’t get out the crater ! ...   no, what killed the dinosaurs was a bug that the aliens carried ...  we now fondly refer to it as ...  the common cold !!     History is repeating itself ..

I figured I'd lick my hands clean, doesn't harm cats after all
