Nick LCFC86 Posted 8 March 2020 Posted 8 March 2020 Would you like to see Barnes play up top with Vardy? He came on vs Man City and caused them all sorts of problems. His pace, like Vardy is a great weapon. Really should utilise it centrally and stretch opposing back lines.
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 8 March 2020 Posted 8 March 2020 I'm just going to assume that you haven't seen any games where Barnes has played up top
Poznan34 Posted 8 March 2020 Posted 8 March 2020 He did alright playing upfront against Wigan in the cup
somebum Posted 8 March 2020 Posted 8 March 2020 Not really Harvey but try having a word with Brendan.
Fox92 Posted 8 March 2020 Posted 8 March 2020 Rodgers won't start with two up front. As frustrating as it is. We went with two up front at Villa Park, battered them. Can't stand one up front. Especially when we still persist with one up front against the likes of Norwich.
Scotch Posted 8 March 2020 Posted 8 March 2020 If we did go two up top, I would much rather see Kelechi start with Vardy. He deserves a run in the team but like others have said, I dont see us going two up top.

I think you’re missing what happened, we started two up front against Norwich, Kelechi got brought off at half time with the whole Norwich team wanting to kills him.

That was that game, I forgot! (I'll edit). My last line I was referring to last week though. Going to a side bottom of the league, who have only scored two goals (both pens) since New Years Day, and starting Vardy isolated on his own. Should be two up front for me.
Clever Fox Posted 8 March 2020 Posted 8 March 2020 Nacho is proving he has a more expansive game than just being a good striker. He deserves a run in the Team to help him get more settled. Then I think he can be a very valuable player for us.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 8 March 2020 Posted 8 March 2020 I thought this thread was about a new hairstyle.

In my opinion, he looked pretty clueless as a more central ‘striker’ during that 45 mins and made life too easy for the Man City centre halves. His pressing was way below the clever stuff that vardy does to cut off passing lanes and dare the defender to make the more dangerous pass.
lcfc sheff Posted 8 March 2020 Posted 8 March 2020 I’ve said this before I do believe he has a future playing upfront, however atm id prefer to see us work on a front three of Barnes, Vardy and Iheanacho with barnes in the hole... hopefully get it in tune ready for Europe next year where we can be dangerous.
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 8 March 2020 Posted 8 March 2020 I thought the opposite when he went up top against Man City. I thought we lost a bit of a spark when he replaced Kelechi up there. And that’s not a criticism of Harvey, I just think he is not a striker. it’s difficult to ask a young player to master two positions when he is already learning one (I think he is doing well mastering the wing position). Kelechi and perhaps Ayoze ahead of him in the second striker position for me.
CosbehFox Posted 8 March 2020 Posted 8 March 2020 The Villa game with two up top was a freak. Villa were so naive - they attacked us and we just constantly picked them off on the counter. We were so narrow playing the diamond midfield and they should have got more change out of the flanks. So is there any benefit playing two up front when we play teams who have a deep block? Ultimately regardless it's up to the midfield to get closer to a striker(s) and for the wingers to start playing like actual attacking midfielders, making the play wider - we are playing 4-3-3, not 4-5-1.

Chrysalis Posted 9 March 2020 Posted 9 March 2020 Barnes is not aggressive though. He is very lightweight and despite scoring some goals finally, he still fluffs an awful lot of shots. I would put nacho ahead of perez though. I didn't say nacho as I assumed you already excluded him for some reason given he is our #2.

goody2028 Posted 9 March 2020 Posted 9 March 2020 Harvey Barnes is 14/5 to score anytime tonight. To clear that up if you put £10 on you’ll lose £10.

I mean my memory isnt the greatest but didnt he make one exciting run when he came on, then disappeared for the rest of the game? I agree he'd be worth a go if we want to use 2 up top, but as others have stated he's definitely behind Iheanacho at the present.
