Worst modern day XI

Recommended Posts

With the club website/twitter account running a 'Greatest XI' vote during the last week or so, I wondered about what a fan-chosen worst XI would look like.

Luis Hernandez was a centre back wasn't he?

Don't think Ghezzal or Musa should be there, let's face it. They may not have been great but nowhere near as inadequate and inept as others in that list. Bear in mind those others played in lower divisions!

Some very harsh choices in there, didn’t Gillespie win POTY while here?

Also Hernandez, Benjamin, Musa, Coatsworth, we’ve had far worse than all of these!

Junior Lewis is a shoe in for captain though.

Who was that blonde defender we had on loan about 12 years ago? He has to start!

And during the Levine/Holloway days we seemed to get a new flop every week. Could easily pick a team of shite from those days alone!

Probably better described as most disappointing XI. Can't really have many premier League players in there.

Wouldn't have Jordan Stewart anywhere near any worst XI

You have that pretty much nailed on though a tad unfair on Jordan Stewart & Keith Gillespie who would be in the "average/ok" catagory.

This will free up slots for Ben Chilwell & Demarai Gray who are far more deserving of a place in the squad.

Michael Johnson is also in need of inclusion.

4-4-2

Ricardo

Curtis Mills Keown Rogers

Ghezzal Lewis (Michael) Johnson Wise

Akinbiyi Hammond

These threads bring up names that don't deserve to be in there. We probably couldn't make a "worst XI".

Hammond, Gillespie, Benjamin, Stewart.... these don't deserve to be anywhere near the likes of Wise and Josh Low.

They may not be as good as what we have now but at that time they gave their all. Stewart was brilliant for us in 02/03 when we went up.

Josh Low, on the other hand, remains the worse player I've ever seen here.

Ryan Mcgivern.

No worst XI would be complete without Joe Hammill.

As others have pointed out, there are a few names there who shouldn't be anywhere near this conversation, particularly Jordan Stewart.

Goalkeeper Nominations:

Kalac

Douglas

Pressman

Surely has to be one of those, the other suggestions Ricardo and Zieler etc you’d take over Douglas, Pressman and Kalac any day of the week.

Pressman is the worst keeper, summed up the policy of signing every available over-35 player without much thought or consideration.

Andy Lonerghan says it all! Good keeper for Shef Wed, but by the time we got him it was like having a wheelie bin in goal!

Kaebi barely played to be honest, can only remember him at Ipswich away

Hernandez was a centre back who could play right back when we signed him, and if I remember correctly he mainly played right back.

You only have to look what happened to all of those players after their time with us haha, all careers nosedived. Moreno was probably the most successful
