£50m up front and further money in instalments is not being ripped off, well not for us anyway. He might do well there but more in a sense he seems to be joining a club that could be phenomenal if all their new players gel but it'll be in spite of Chilwell as much as because of him. I honestly don't see the fascination in him, the only real concern is how we use this money to strengthen.

Yeah. At the end of the day, they are professionals and in it to make money. Virtually tripling your wages is a hard thing to turn down. Plus you have to say with the squad that Chelsea are gathering, they are likely to be a strong team so the draw is massive. Probably doesn't help that half of Leicester bitch and moan at Chilwell most of the time, so all in all it's not the greatest surprise to see him want to move on and start afresh.

I think it should also be a dose of reality for those that think we can consistently compete with the monied clubs. We can't - at least not consistently.

190k is 60k more than the 130k Jamie Vardy, a player many of us consider our all time best ever player gets! When you put things into that perspective, it shows you where we are on the current pecking order. Arsenal are rumoured to be offering Aubameyang over 300k a week inclusive of bonuses and Alexis Sanchez was on 350k a week at Man U!

 

We aren't going to close that gap for a very long time. It can be done over time, but I think it should serve as a reminder of how hard the challenge is to consistently mix it with the bigger teams in this division.
