Good age to prepare Luke, good player, yes please

Agreed - three year contract after which Luke takes over. Makes sense, except for the stupid looking fee.

€45mill Euros is a fairly big sum for a 27yr old.

He won't cost that much IMO, I'm fairly certain they'll accept less than that, probably around 30-35 million Euros. He has less than 2 years left on his deal too, best time for them to sell is now.

Seems inflated, as at Christmas he was being touted around for €25m, if you believe the press. If we were to sell Chilwell for £65m, I guess it’s all relative.

Ouch. Only skimmed the article originally, but that is too much, too little profit, too little room for further signings.

Look elsewhere if true.

Plus his likely successor is already at the club, so that's 5/6/7 years of the LB slot filled for 30 mill. Not horrendous.

More excited by this link than the Jamal Lewis link. Must be because he is Argentinian 😂

in reality, Lewis is probably just as good. Funny how the football fans mind works!

Ajax have been quoted in saying if a decent offer comes in, they won't stand in his way. I'd expect £25mill (~€28mill) would be enough to secure him, and he'd be a brilliant signing for 3 or 4 years. Giving us time to prepare Luke Thomas to step up.

I'm a great advocate of youth but this would be an ideal replacement if Chilwell leaves. A tough, quality LB who has a similar profile to Ricardo sorts out our full backs for the next five years with their quality and experience. Justin and Thomas to support and pressure their places in the coming years as well sorts us out in those positions.

A new CB to compliment Soyuncu and Evans and our defence is good to go, maybe Benkovic is now ready to step up to challenge Evans and Soyuncu?

Yea, I’d be well up for this. Bit more experience and also allows Thomas to develop naturally without being rushed in. This would make sense if we could sell Chilly. And cash left over. @Ric Flair I have my logical head on today.

He is noted for his "lung-busting stamina, excellent technique and continuous enterprise". As a result of his skills, as well as his playing position and club, Tagliafico has been compared to the Internazionale and Argentina full-back Javier Zanetti, formerly also of Banfield

In which case, he could be perfect for us transitioning play up the wing, or laying it off to those in midfield. European competition experience and experience winning titles is always something you look to add when being in our position.

Think the comparisons to zanetti are mostly because of nationality, dont think it's any more than that.
