As long as he hits the ground running.

This, it's much better to get an older player who is as good as chilwell and can help us compete next season than a younger player like lewis who will be a downgrade and will need time.

27, 28, 29 is generally when a player peaks. Best time to be spending big money on him.

If that were the case then surely it would have been better to spend big money on him 2 years ago as opposed to now when he's half way through his supposed peak?

Its about getting the right balance in the team, think a experienced LB would do wonders other areas in the team. It helps a young Barnes on the same side of the pitch and helps with the loss of Ricardo to stretch teams more.

We didn't need him 2 years ago

Age is absolutely no issue unless its circa £35-40m

Agreed £30m or less is acceptable as he will be a great player for 2-3 seasons who will eventually be pushed all the way by Luke Thomas.

No but ever since I found myself standing next to silva I’ve had a thing about small players from the continent ..... anyone know how well he covers in the air at the back post .....that’s one of chilwell’s strengths ....

and can no one mention NG ........

It wasn't Silva's height as such. Ricardo is hardly Peter Crouch level after all.

It was Silva's lack of presence. His physique was Effette. Effeminate. Man made of straw.

we shouldn't sign anyone over 26. 25m for a 28 year old left back isn't great

25mil for 2-3 years of a quality left back then luke thomas can take over. If you think of it as spending 25 mil to allow thomas to develop properly rather than throwing him into the deep end next year which could end up being a 5-6 year investment it looks a lot better.

That extra inch matters ........

The noise has all been about Jamal Lewis rather from Tagliafico, hoping that's classic Leicester and we're pushing for this in silence

There's been literally zero link to Jamal Lewis?

I saw a tweet or two linked from a talksport journo saying we were looking at him, but as per I can't find it now I actually need it

Not seen a link but he's 6/5 favourite with Skybet to come to us

Seems like Ours and Chelsea’s left backs could be Chilwell and Tagliafico next year (in no particular order).

Wonder who everyone would prefer:

- Keep Chilwell (thumbs up)

- Tagliafico +£30/40mill. (Trophy)

Edit: Jamal Lewis +£50 mill (cry)

Thomas +£65 mill (laugh)

:P

Tagliafico wants it Leicester and also other teams in Europe. El Rojo has 12 percent of a future sale and the money would help him get through the financial crisis

article says..

Nicolás Tagliafico could be transferred to football in England and the operation would leave a significant amount of money for Independiente. One of the interested teams is Leicester, although there are also other clubs that want Ajax's left back.

El Rojo took 12 percent of a future sale and there is talk of an operation that would be around 30 to 40 million euros. The Avellaneda entity could receive a sum ranging from 3,600,000 to 4,800,000 euros and would mean a real relief for the finances of the institution.

Surely he’s bit too old for us to spend big money on ???

Didn’t we offer 20m or so for Evans, 6 months before getting him for next to nothing? He would still have been worth that fee.

Tagliafico has a couple of weaknesses (whilst he's strong defensively, there are some things he could be better at), but on the whole would be a fantastic replacement for Chilwell - different profile, but if we have a wide threat from both fullbacks it makes our play from the inside so much easier, we can really stretch teams.

You're right. I believe we offered that fee (possibly more?!) to West Brom in January, then WBA were relegated and we signed him for a song.
