Bliss.  We didn't know what we had then.  Wasn't necessarily about the results either.  It was the togetherness.  The connection we felt.  Like our presence mattered.

I remember working at the hope and anchor in syston (a shit hole by the way) Halloween 2009 and we won away at QPR on a Friday night then I got an early finish and went liquid with journo @Joe. And Dominic @Tilleyand I remember being absolutely outraged that @Samilktray had the potential to get fake blood off his ****ing fancy dress on my fresh Lyle and Scott polo, will always associate nige with a great era for liquid

Also, we’d have already made signings for a few quid who would become instant stars - and the shit squad members would’ve been seen walking out of the training ground with a bag holding their worldly possessions. The cost of living crisis wouldn’t have happened. Petrol would be free. Everyone would go to work with a smile and the sun would always shine. Nige is the closest thing you’ll ever get to Britpop and the good bits from the Blair years in human form. He should be made a saint by the Catholic Church, for sure. And a knight of the realm. No league title (which likely wouldn't have happened) pre - FA Cup victory....but no worries, a weird exchange about ostriches, the attempted murder of James McArthur and a flat back five at home to Hull. Happy days.

I think the momentum we had from the great escape would have helped us, but the genius in Ranieri was to give Mahrez a free role and stick Vardy up front as a sole striker. Pearson wanted his wingers to be disciplined and played in a very rigid way with Vardy finding himself on the left wing a lot in 14/15. He's done well for us and turned us around, but I don't think we'd have won the PL with him in charge!

Would of gone unbeaten and won it by 20 points at least with Nige in charge tbf

I think we probably wouldn't have won the league with Pearson in 15-16. I think we definitely wouldn't have won the league without Pearson in 08-10 & 11-15.

 

We'll never know, but FWIW.... 

 

- With Pearson in 15-16, I think we'd have qualified for Europe but probably not won the title. We had momentum, as you say. We'd also have had almost the same squad. But Ranieri's tactical refinements turned what would have been a very good team into a title-winning team: not only the attack, which you mention, but opting for a narrower defence, given that Huth & Morgan plus tucked-in full-backs could cope with 99% of aerial stuff from the wings, while Kante thwarted 99% of central attacks.

 

- Without Pearson in 08-10, we might well have taken more than 1 season to emerge from L1 or might have struggled more once promoted to the Championship. Would Vichai & Top have wanted to buy a club in L1 or struggling in the Championship?

 

- Without either or both Pearson stints, we might well be in the Championship (or potentially worse) now. Vardy and Mahrez would probably never have been at LCFC, likewise Kante (bought by Ranieri but being lined up by Walsh under NP) and probably others like Morgan, Huth, Drinkwater, Okazaki, Fuchs. Ranieri would probably never have become LCFC manager. If King Power had still invested in the club (a big IF, if we'd stayed in L1), we might now have the status of a yo-yo club or perhaps an established bottom-half PL club. No way Ranieri or any other manager would have been near taking us to the 15/16 title and the European campaigns and FAC win that have followed.

 

I think of it like ending up with a beautiful house, where a master builder has built wonderful foundations and walls, then another master professional has come along and, crucially, added a great roof and external sealings. Yes, the house wouldn't necessarily have been as great if you'd left the original builder to sort the roof, but it sure as hell wouldn't have been up to much if the roofer didn't have any foundations or structure onto which to add his roof.
