It’s not that. They’ve extended deadlines for certain groups like armed forces and mail in. States can set their own law and they’ve decided in those places they need to give extra time to be able to call a fair election.

I actually don't particularly agree. They actually picked the perfect person to beat Trump. As much as I wanted Sanders, I can accept why Biden was safer. 

 

Biden is a featureless blank sheet of plain paper, he's vanilla ice cream, he's a political rich tea biscuit. He's got no obvious policy, no strong convictions, he's not promising major gun reform, he doesn't believe in universal health care and best of all he's an old white man. All of those things sound like pejoratives but it actually means he won't put any floating moderate voters off and he'll win some blue collar votes back. 

 

The problem in the states is the same problem we have here to an extent but its blown up to a ridiculous degree over there. People don't vote for issues and policies and things that truly benefit them anymore, Republican and Democrat have been reduced to basically just sports teams now and politics is just a game contested on CNN and Fox News. 

 

You cheer for your team whatever happens, you laugh at and mock the opposition whatever happens, you tweet about making the "libs cry" or triggering "fragile white guys." You dehumanise your rivals to stereotypes, red team are all fat angry white domestic terrorists with guns and blue guys are all looting, rioting, antifa anarchists. 

 

And its all driven by the mainstream media, for profit organisations that are thriving on the hysteria making a killing on clicks and likes. People are as uninformed as they've ever been, everything is soundbites and opinions, there's no real fact driven news and Americans are criminally denied critical thinking education anyway. 

 

It's definitely true that the Democrats (and to an extent Labour over here too) need to find a way of talking to white working class voters, they've got to find a way of getting them back. They don't want to be preached too, they want to have their valid concerns heard, they don't want to be patronised or dismissed as bigots (this started happening long before Trump vs Clinton, remember Gordon Brown and his blunder?) for being worried about migration or their own communities. 

 

Not denying that at all. But it's also true that its a mammoth, mammoth task for them while the right (and ever more so, the far right) are overwhelmingly in control of the mass news media. For every left wing outlet there's multiple right wing populist institutions deliberately targeting the white working class. It's not just about what "the Dems" do as an organisation. 

 

The future is better for them, my generation and the generation after mine are definitely less reliant on conventional news sources, less likely to buy tabloids or watch Fox and generally more progressive as a whole. But that's still a big, long fight.

To be honest, once they go blue, they're not really coming back. All across the board it's either high density urban areas or postal ballots that are late and they're all Biden. It's just about the ones currently sitting red.

 

PA and GA could genuinely still go.

If Biden flips GA then there’s literally no leg the orange mess can stand on.

They're waiting on inner city Atlanta so it's definitely possible. 

 

Oh and I assume PA is going to go blue hence the Trump campaign making it their main target for a legal challenge, pretending they've won it and calling it a cheat.

I hope they do, the bigger the margin the better.  As I said yesterday, rather a decent win for either side than weeks of legal battles etc.

As I understand it PA is waiting on postal votes and Philadelphia's votes (which is a democrat stronghold), so that could realistically still swing far enough to become blue.

 

I can totally see why Trump is trying to deny the people their democracy.

 

It's something you'd expect of a Belarusian leader, not an American one.

 

As tragic as that is, I think the real threat to the loss of life whichever way this election goes is as big a stain on the way Trump has divided a nation in the space of 4 years. Madness.

I get claiming they're ahead, claiming they SHOULD win, claiming that they can only lose if the Dems cheat, etc. 

 

But outright claiming states as done deals when the whole world can switch on any TV channel, even Fox, and see its rubbish is just.... weird. I don't get what that achieves.
