The fact we allowed Calvin Bassey to leave and prioritised Thomas’ development is just another on the long list of poor decisions we’ve made in squad building to get to where we are now

I think McGivern was probably worse, but not tonnes in it, which is damning because I thought McGivern was hilarious.

Yes but we only had to endure him for 12 games, not 118

We ‘didn’t allow Calvin Bassey’ to leave. He wanted to leave. He didn’t want to play centre back. And guess what…

We still prioritised Thomas at left back over Bassey.

Im sure if we gave him a role in the first team whether at centreback or left back he would have stayed, it's just there wasnt a pathway for him.

Well we could have done more to keep him. Splitting hairs.

Thomas was part of Rodgers’s little dressing room clique with Maddison

and at the time Thomas was the better prospect, he just didn't kick on at all

I didn't personally think so, always preferred Bassey. Although I was surprised and impressed by how well Thomas played for us initially.

I vaguely remember the U21 game before Thomas debuted for the first team he had a bit of a horror show where he assisted the opposition goal with a poorly placed backpass and I was surprised that he made the move up despite that performance.

Seems like he really runs out of steam after an hour.

I seriously  wonder if hes asthmatic  or something ( like I am)

He’s pants.

He’s also too weak and slow.

Its just so painful because everyone knew and knows it bar the plonkers who renewed him.

He just doesn’t offer anything.

There was a moment he did a great turn, had space to run forward into, but instead played a very short sideways pass.

Not sure what happened, this is the same player that was quite attacking at first and scored a great goal at Old Trafford.

I reckon we have a few unfit players. Combine that with some that don't want to be here & the others on their long, overpaid contracts (although some have completed all of the above !), it's no surprise we're in an almighty mess.

Don’t know if we were ever interested but people seemed quite dismissive of re-signing Callum Doyle.  I know who I’d rather have in the team every week.
