Aha.

Sounds like a set up for a few suspensions/sackings.

Which would make us a much bigger profit for when we have to sell it to ourselves a few times to get round PSR

Very likely, Isn't that what Chelsea have been doiing for years. We might as well join them.

This place is a holiday camp isn't it.

Mad how they can work in a nice fancy resort yet we seemed to get more out of them when they were working out of scruffy old building.

Perhaps it kept them more humble, grounded, workmanlike.

Newcastle United have set an initial budget of £200M for our new training ground project, according to Newcastle World.
To put that into some context Leicester City’s new complex, completed in 2020, cost £100m.
The club have so far pumped around £10m revamping the club’s current training base in Benton, knowing it has no long term future.
This new training ground will be the best in the entire Premier League, which is seen as essential to push us into the upper echelons of not only domestic, but world football too!
It’s understood the new facility will not only house the Newcastle United first-team, but will also have built-in, separate academy and women’s team facilities. The centre piece of the facility will have a purpose-built mini stadium, where junior, youth, women’s and first-team, behind-closed-doors games can be held. Impressive!
The same article believes that physical work on the stadium redevelopment or new build won't start until 2027.
PIF are showing in these two mega projects though they stand by their long-term commitment to the Newcastle United project.
An official announcement on club infrastructure has been tightly guarded, but is expected soon.
Wowzer! 🤩

Should the title not be changed to Seagrave, Hotel, Golf Course and Country Club?

Wasn't one of the first things Dean Smith did, was to get the players to fetch and carry their own meals in the Seagrave canteen - sorry, restaurant?

Now, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them not only have their meals bought to them and empty plates taken away, but they are literally spoon fed in-between.

When we first saw videos of Seagrave I marveled at it even boasted a little with pride on how far we have come as a club. Now when I see promo videos it just makes me angry, laugh or cry. It’s rediculously BIG. Even Ruud said he expected to see this at Real Madrid BUT we aren’t Real Madrid lol.

there lies the farcical irony. Seagrave simply does not fit us. Whatever the vision was it’s broken because our team is no where near elite level. Like others have said it’s more like a luxury hotel & spa.

Seagrave isn’t the issue, attitudes of players are.

Building the training ground was the right thing to do, just not expense of other progress.

The idea was to provide an elite environment for elite players. A great vision from the great man, Kun Vichai. That vision has been trashed by filling it with sub par players and non elite coaches, run by a man who is so out of his depth it’s comical.

it’s not the facility, it’s the people that work in it.

If you think hard enough you will realise the flaw in the vision, you cant supply it with a constant flow of elite players when you not an elite club.

Seagrave contributes to the attitude.  If I signed for a club with the training ground, I would feel I have made it and dont need to work as hard.
The training ground should have only been a consideration after sustained success and competing at the highest level, we won a trophy and suddenly thought we were elite.
Its only merit is it might help us attract players, both for academy and first team, as its the day to day place of work for players.  But the former doesnt mean much as academies have no real protection for their investment.

Sorry don’t agree, Seagrave should inspire players, anyone slacking off because they think they have made it should be moved on  ASAP,.  The biggest clubs have the best facilities and this sets the standards and culture. Our problem is the board have allowed players to become entitled and the standards to drop.

It shows how poor our recruitment has been and that we no longer carry out the necessary due diligence on players character, also over paying rank average players creates a comfort zone and removes any hunger and desire.
