Popular Post The whole world smiles Posted 10 December 2020 Popular Post Posted 10 December 2020 These kind of questions are pretty meaningless at the moment, this isn't 2016 there will be no settled starting 11 for the rest of the season. There is potentially another 43 games to squeeze into 5 months. Maddison, Praet, even perez will all be starting loads of games at number 10 before the season is out depending on fatigue, fitness levels and opposition. Let's not look for every little excuse to have a dig at our own players by claiming they shouldnt be in the starting 11 because the staring 11 only exists on a game by game basis. 4 2
wardyfox86 Posted 10 December 2020 Posted 10 December 2020 In a 3 with Ndidi and Tielemans, he starts. I think he struggles otherwise.
CosbehFox Posted 10 December 2020 Posted 10 December 2020 Some revisionism after playing possibly one of the worst teams I’ve seen since we got promoted from the Championship 3

Fox seen in Norwich Posted 10 December 2020 Posted 10 December 2020 Our most creative player so for me clearly better with him. He seems the type of guy that thrives off a crowd so hopefully his game will up with fans coming back in the ground. Keep him off corners though
Innovindil Posted 10 December 2020 Posted 10 December 2020 He's one of the first names on the team sheet when our full squad is fully fit. Too easy to defend against him when you can spare players to surround him when we've got such little threat down the wings with albrighton/justin as wing backs. Personally got no doubt he'll shine again when we're back to a back 4 with castagne and ricardo back and under/barnes down both wings.

Keep him off corners though You mean our most creative midfield player when Barnes, Under, Tielemans and maybe even Perez are not on the pitch? Maybe add Castagne too, while Vardy and Ricardo are not bad in creativity as well. Edited 10 December 2020 by Tom12345 1 1
Always Next Year Posted 10 December 2020 Posted 10 December 2020 For me he takes to much of the play away from Tielemans and his taking of free kicks and corners needs to improve to win me over.

Fox seen in Norwich Posted 10 December 2020 Posted 10 December 2020 Perez? Come on now right now madders isn’t in his best form granted. During our bad run after the COVID break when madders was injured last season.. who were people saying was missing to create? Lets not get carried away after playing aek that we’ve got worldly creative players, those that took a defensive error and a significant deflection to score tonight. of course just my opinion but madders for me is the most creative for picking a key pass. 1
foxile5 Posted 10 December 2020 Posted 10 December 2020 If he's got a Fiesta with body colour bumpers yes. If he's got a Lambo with mirror finish no.
Nick Posted 10 December 2020 Posted 10 December 2020 Depends entirely on the formation and where he plays. In tonight’s team he gets in ahead of Praet for me in a 4-1-4-1 / 4231 all day long. Stick Vards and Madders in for Praet and Nacho and that for me is our strongest line up. Ricardo Fofana Evans Castagne Ndidi Under Tielemans Maddison Barnes Vardy With the bench having to be chosen from the likes of: Justin Thomas Soyunco Perez Mendy Praet... All we are crying out for is a reserve striker - an Ings or a Giroud would do 😆 but Nobody is coming here of that quality to sit on the bench. 1
zorro en españa Posted 10 December 2020 Posted 10 December 2020 I find this really difficult. I love Maddison and he is, without doubt, a quality player. However I think the inevitable relationship that YT/ DP can develop is likely to be very promising. If JM can be grown up about it (and I hope that the hype has not got to him) I think that he must realise he has to be at the top of his game to be the immediate selection. I will have even more time for him if he were to admit to himself he hasn’t the right to be the self-acclaimed set piece taker; if he is to be our corner taker he gets on with it (his “look at me” while he strolls to the corner, raises his arm is annoying me - disproportionately I will admit); and if he stayed on his feet a little more (because it often leads to us losing momentum) But wow. I have been supporting us since the 70s - this guy would have been the absolute cream in many of those years. Questioning whether he should be in the starting line up reflects what a fabulous squad we have ...... but we must play to team strengths always. What I really want to avoid is him becoming a scapegoat - I’d love him to be considering the points raised. 3
peach0000 Posted 10 December 2020 Posted 10 December 2020 I think he gives us more creativity than any other player. He's also very good at getting us up the field by drawing fouls. Much better with him than without in my opinion. 1
Finn Claw II Posted 10 December 2020 Posted 10 December 2020 I rate Tielmans, Maddison has MOTD moments that make him look like a genius but we seem to tick better with Tielmans and Preat. I’d play that team against the big teams. We need to attack weaker teams and Maddison is part of that. I think we are clearly better than about 12-14 of the PL teams so he plays a lot regardless.
Hales Posted 10 December 2020 Posted 10 December 2020 Youri and Dennis play better together. They have known one another and played together for years and it shows. When we need our midfield solid they should play together. Madders on for flair. 1
murphy Posted 10 December 2020 Posted 10 December 2020 I think that people have to remember that Maddison has not hit his stride this year since returning from injury, before deciding that he's suddenly not very good.

Don't think anybody is saying he isn't very good. He's clearly very talented. Sometimes seemingly 'less talented' players can be more effective for the good of the team 1
Guest Fktf Posted 10 December 2020 Posted 10 December 2020 Depends on the opposition. Praet seems to be the only midfielder we have that gets into the box when we attack from wide, and that makes us look good when teams are open (like tonight). If the opposition sits in, you'd rather have Maddison's ability to thread a pass.

Not really fair to judge him atm. Again we're asking questions about why our players are injured for so long. When was it he got injured, just before the first lockdown? That's 9 months.

Vardy had to slow down and wait for it which gave the defender a chance. I think we win more games with Praet due to the collective being stronger I agree with you in fact, any of the technical midfielders praet, mendy, telemann, maidstone, perez etc could play it all day long, he should not be dining out on that one. I like him but he's not good enough to start, whether that's form based or he's just not that good I'm not sure.

Popular Post shailen Posted 10 December 2020 Popular Post Posted 10 December 2020 People will ask this question until we lose with him not in the side, and then it'll be why has he dropped Maddison. Maddison has the unique ability in our team to dribble through and keep the ball whilst creating space for others. When teams sit back against us we don't have a player who can commit the opposition like he does and bring others into play. That doesn't mean I'd always pick him and think we got it wrong vs Liverpool to play him instead of Praet. I'd start him on the bench against the bigger teams where we're likely to have less of the ball and therefore sit back and counter at pace. 5
