Ric Flair Posted 27 January 2021 Share Posted 27 January 2021 The problem with trying to get players in now rather than on a free in the summer is, any fee going to the club is probably extra money the player and agent would receive come the summer and that's why they bunker down in the final 6 months and stick it out to get that lucrative pay day. Porto might sell him for £5m when he's a £15-20m player, who in the summer probably gets a £5m signing on fee and his agent a few million. Reminds me of Coutinho before the goals when he was more of a playmaker than an ACM or front 3 attacker. I think its going to take a month or so before he gets up to speed even if we get him now. You never know for sure. If we have a list I hope he's been on it for months because panic buys are never the way to go when your building a squad. Otavio's contract expires in the summer and Vancouver have offered him a $5 million signing fee and a contract of $2 million per season. The Whitecaps have yet to receive a decision. Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari has reported that AS Roma, Juventus, Napoli and Leicester City are also interested. Otavio, 25, originally signed with Porto in 2014 after breaking through with Internacional. Plenty here on furlough, chances are he will have a job when the season restarts, there is a lot of people here who were released at the end of October, not their fault either. Vancouver is one of the most amazing cities anywhere in the world, which may be some factor in his decision. Players do care about stuff like that sometimes. I don't disagree with that, and there is the quality of life outside of football, which will all add up to any decision when a player has a few options, however if true, his other options are Rome & Milan, not exactly Oldham and Coventry are they? I appreciate that Leicester isn't the best place either, however what most people want is financial security, and just look at how Manchester City were able to attract Robinho, Barry, and the rest years ago... it wasn't because of the weather. The Vancouver Whitecaps FC did get the player a proposal for two million dollars contract for clean season and a signature bonus of five million dollars. The proposal was considered by Otávio but had a deadline for an answer. The athlete had to respond until January 14, 2021, something that did not happen. The 'Mercado Aberto' contacted the MLS club that confirmed the proposal but states that it is no longer valid, since the player has not formalized an answer, affirmative or negative. Finally, the third proposal that Otávio received was that of AC Milan . Paolo Maldini, technical director of the Italian club, sent the player's representatives a proposal for a four-year contract, where the midfielder would earn two million euros cleaned per season and would be entitled to a subscription prize of one and a half million euros. Otávio also refused this third and last proposal so far, but made a counter-proposal to the current leader of the Italian championship. The Brazilian asks AC Milan for a four-season contract with a clean salary of three million euros and a signing premium of six million euros. The Italian club, which the 'Mercado Aberto' managed to find out, is not willing to give in to these claims of Otávio, at a time when the player's name is also being associated with his rival, Inter Milan.
