Wonderful player and human being but sadly an injury prone player. Under no circumstance can the club sensibly increase his salary and contract length.

Our best player when he's fit. But he isn't fit very often. I like him but if he wants to go, it will be fairly low down on the list of things I hold against the management of the club as a whole if he goes.

I don't blame him if he wants out .. hes too good to stay at the club

Who ever buys him has to be prepared for him to spend over half the season in rehab. I love him, but he cant stay fit. 4 starts for us this season. His body isn't up to it.

Reckon he’ll have to play for us next season to prove his fitness before he can get a move and by then he’ll be out of contract anyway. Can’t see anyone giving us a fee or agreeing to pay him what we will have to next season (55k/week).

Ricky's career is a case of what if. If he hadn't got injured in 2020, we'd probably got CL football. He'd have walked into the best teams in the world during that period. Now he's way too good for the championship, but he'll see his contract out and walk away for free next year.

Past his best, injury prone and is not getting any younger, a luxury we can no longer afford.

Can't believe he's still here to be honest! After Vardy he's possibly the longest serving I think alongside Ndidi..?

It's the right time. It's a massive shame, I really think without those injuries he'd have had a career at the very top. But he's another who'll be on big money who we get very little out of on the pitch these days.

He goes with more of a blessing than most, but right time for me.

From a wages and injuries perspective, I’d be more than ok (I can bring myself to be happy as he is one of the good ones) to see him move on. He also deserves a new challenge if that is what he wants.

We seem to have quite some strength in depth at right back coming through from the academy as well as Justin and Coulibaly so I don’t think we need to recruit to the position.

I think it makes sense for Riccy P to move on, another high wage earner off the books and another one of our better players who feels the time is right for a new challenge.

It does also highlight now just how poor this last season has been, Vardy called it a shitshow and Riccys statement also gave the impression it has not been great behind the scenes.

Clearly just like the fans, the cracks are appearing now with established long term players such as Vardy, Riccy and possibly Wilf all leaving this summer.

Whilst it’s sad to see these players move on, I feel it’s time and provides a real opportunity for the reset that is so desperately needed, I just hope the club are working away in the background to undertake this rebuild, rather than what I fear is happening, which is a whole lot of denial and ignorance to the task at hand.

Torn on Riccy P leaving.

Heart is telling me he's one of our best players on his day, he is a throwback to better times, played in some memorable games, and he actually seems to care unlike others.

My head is telling me he's a liability injury-wise and we can't afford his wages anymore.

It'll be a sad day regardless when he goes. A bit like Wilf. The day is coming though.

Posts this on Monday, leaving the club by the end of the week lol

Reconnecting with what made us successful?

Honest reflection?

Something to learn?

His best season for fitness was under Maresca. No surprise this was in a season where he wasnt expected to bomb up and down a wing for 90 mins and just defend & knit things together. I'd take a restricted Ricky over a fully fit Justin.

He didnt bomb up and down the wing this season. He broke down pretty quickly after his first full appearance.

Mixed about him leaving as if he can stay fit like the last time, he’s the best player in the championship again.

I’m also surprised he wants to go as he’ll never get a wage close to what we’re paying him.

Probably right though, but what a player he was  and sometimes still is

I'm not surprised at all he wants to go. Club is a shambles and he has been here ages and wants a new challenge. Plus although he might be in a fair wage here he will still be able to pick up 50 or 60k a week in Turkey or Portugal or somewhere like that. When fully fit in his first couple of seasons here, he was amazing, probably best RB in the league. Then in the champ under Maresca he was best MF in the league and was a big part of us getting back up. Will always be loved but don't blame him one bit for getting out now.

Of course I do agree, but his career is not far from over. 1 more year on big money before moving on a free (which is notoriously good for playing clubs off each other for a strong wage) I feel like makes sense.

Fair play to him I guess for valuing football over cash, I’m used to guys like Yannik, Bouba, Daka, Ward etc who all would have left years ago if not for their wage.

That’s in part because Cooper gave him minimal minutes in the preseason matches and then benched him during the first part of his tenure and then suddenly expected him to play 90mins. No stepping of minutes - it went from nothing to full on. That is not how you manage Ricardo!
